🧠 June is Stroke Month 🧠
This year marks 10 years since Heart & Stroke launched the FAST campaign to help Canadians recognize the signs of stroke and take action quickly.
Recognizing a stroke and calling 9-1-1 immediately can save a life and improve recovery outcomes.
Remember FAST:
🔹 Face – Is it drooping?
🔹 Arms – Can you raise both?
🔹 Speech – Is it slurred or jumbled?
🔹 Time – Call 9-1-1 right away.
Stroke is a medical emergency. Every minute counts.
While awareness has grown over the past decade, stroke continues to rise across Canada. There are now more than 108,000 strokes each year, which means approximately one stroke occurs every five minutes. Nearly one million people in Canada are living with the effects of stroke, making it one of the leading causes of adult disability.
During Stroke Month, the Cobequid Foundation encourages everyone to learn the signs, share this life-saving information with family and friends, and be prepared to act FAST when it matters most.
Together, we can help save lives and support better outcomes for stroke survivors.
