Every year, trucks, trailers, and equipment are damaged because dumping takes place in less-than-ideal conditions. Taking a few minutes to assess the site before unloading can prevent costly delays and keep everyone safe. 🚧

Watch for these common issues:

1. Soft Ground
What looks solid from the cab isn't always solid underneath. Saturated soil, fresh fill, or muddy areas can shift under the weight of a loaded truck.

2. Side Slopes
A triaxle or dump trailer might seem level when parked, but even a slight side slope becomes a serious concern once the box starts going up.

3. Overhead Hazards
Power lines, tree branches, and job site structures should always be identified before unloading. Drivers need plenty of overhead clearance before raising a box.

4. Material Hanging Up
Wet material can stick to one side of the box. When it suddenly breaks loose, the shift in weight can make an already unstable situation worse.

5. Dumping Near Excavations
Getting too close to trenches, retaining walls, or soft edges can lead to ground failure. A loaded truck puts tremendous weight on the soil beneath it.

A successful delivery starts long before the truck arrives. Proper planning helps keep drivers safe, protects equipment, and keeps your project moving forward.

Safety first! Whether it's a triaxle, dump trailer, live bottom, or float delivering equipment, a safe delivery depends on proper site conditions and communication.

Before your material or machinery arrives, make sure your site is ready:
✅ Firm, stable ground capable of supporting loaded trucks and equipment
✅ Clear access routes free of overhead wires, trees, and obstructions
✅ Adequate turning and backing space
✅ Designated dump and unloading locations communicated to the driver
✅ Spotters available when necessary

For End Dumps (Triaxles & Dump Trailers):
⚠️ Never dump on soft, uneven, or sloped ground. A raised box shifts the truck's centre of gravity and can create rollover risks.

For Live Bottoms:
✅ Ideal for sites with overhead restrictions or areas where a raised box isn't practical. Material is unloaded without lifting the trailer body.

For Floats & Equipment Deliveries:
✅ Ensure there is sufficient room for loading and unloading machinery.
✅ Keep personnel clear of equipment during loading and unloading operations.
✅ Verify access roads and entrances can accommodate oversized loads.

A few minutes of preparation can prevent delays, damage, and unsafe situations on site.
