Honouring Pat Argabrite: A Lifetime of Care, and a Community That Cares Back
For nearly 30 years, Pat Argabrite dedicated her working life to Extendicare, serving residents with compassion, patience, and unwavering commitment. Anyone who worked alongside her knows she gave far more than her job required showing up every day with kindness, reliability, and a genuine love for the people she cared for.
After retiring, Pat looked forward to a quieter chapter of life. But recently, she faced an unexpected and overwhelming hardship: a section of her home started to sag due to severe rot, leaving her with major structural damage she could not afford to repair. The situation was very stressful and far beyond her financial means.
When the team at Breault’s Castle Building Center learned about Pat’s circumstances, we knew she deserved support. Pat was selected as our June recipient of the “1.5% of All Cash Sales” community giveback program, an initiative designed to help local individuals facing hardship.
Thanks to the generosity of our customers, we were able to donate $3,329.85 toward easing Pat’s burden.
But the support didn’t stop there.
A local contractor stepped forward without hesitation, offering their time, skills, and labour to help rebuild the damaged section of her home. His willingness to volunteer reflects the spirit of Kirkland Lake neighbors helping neighbors, and community members stepping up for someone who spent nearly three decades caring for others.
Pat’s story is a reminder of why community matters. She spent her career supporting people in their most vulnerable moments. Now, it’s our turn to support her.
We are proud to stand with Pat, and grateful to everyone customers, contractors, and community members who helped make this possible.
