TULLOCH's Environmental team was represented in Hamilton at the 8th Conference on Natural Channel Systems, held June 8–10 at McMaster University.

This year's conference focused on "Resilient River Corridors: Navigating Challenges, Opportunities and Change," bringing together practitioners, researchers, public agencies, and industry partners to explore natural channel design, watercourse management, restoration, and the role of resilient river systems in climate adaptation.

It was a great opportunity to connect with peers, take part in technical learning, and stay engaged with the evolving practices that support healthy, stable, and sustainable river corridors.

TULLOCH is proud to be back as the Presenting Sponsor of the TriMuskokan!

This Sunday, the sold-out TriMuskokan returns to Huntsville, bringing athletes, volunteers, and supporters together for one of the community’s most exciting race days. Happening at the Canada Summit Centre and surrounding areas, the event includes short course triathlon, duathlon, swim/bike, relay, and Try-a-Tri options, creating a welcoming race experience for first-time participants and seasoned athletes alike.

Several TULLOCH team members will also be taking part in the race, and we’re looking forward to cheering them on alongside the rest of the TriMuskokan community.

The TriMuskokan supports the MSCLE Project, an initiative led by TriMuskoka that helps create publicly accessible outdoor fitness, exercise, and active-lifestyle spaces for people of all ages, abilities, fitness levels, and backgrounds.

Come down to the Canada Summit Centre, cheer on the racers, and be part of the energy. And if you’re there, make sure to stop by the TULLOCH tent for a freezie!

TULLOCH is excited to be back at TRACCS Rail Day, Canada’s leading indoor/outdoor transit and rail trade show and conference.

Visit us at Booth 203 on June 17–18 at The International Centre in Mississauga to connect with our team and learn more about our extensive experience supporting transit and rail projects across Ontario and throughout North America, including many of the largest transportation infrastructure initiatives in the GTA.

Using leading-edge technologies, including mobile, static, and airborne LiDAR, our full-service geomatics and construction support teams help improve the accuracy, efficiency, and safety of major transit infrastructure programs.

Congratulations to Simba Zimuto on receiving his Professional Engineer licence through Professional Engineers Ontario!

Simba joined A. J. Clarke & Associates (AJC) in September 2021 after graduating from Lakehead University with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree. He began his career in the field as a Construction Inspector, gaining hands-on exposure to the construction process and building a strong foundation in civil engineering practice.

He later transitioned into an Engineering Intern (EIT) role, where he developed his drafting and design skills with support from AJC’s experienced technical staff, designers, and engineers. Now a Project Engineer, Simba has contributed to a wide range of projects, including residential subdivisions, site plan developments, residential severances, industrial projects, and railway alignment design.

This is a well-earned milestone in Simba’s career and a proud moment for the AJC team. Way to go, Simba!

TULLOCH was happy to spend time with the 1st Hazelmere Guides, a local Girl Guides of Canada unit in Sudbury, for a hands-on session on benthic invertebrate collection and identification.

Led by members of TULLOCH’s Environmental team in Sudbury, the activity gave participants a chance to explore aquatic ecology, learn about the small organisms that live in local waterways, and see how environmental fieldwork helps us better understand habitat and water quality.

This session built on TULLOCH’s past donations to the unit and created a fun, educational outdoor activity for local youth.

Thank you to the 1st Hazelmere Guides and their leaders for welcoming our team for a day of interactive learning.

In the late 1990s, a TULLOCH field crew set out on a two-week survey expedition along the Moose River, travelling from Smoky Falls to the ONR bridge near Moosonee. With no cell phones, no accommodations, and limited access to outside support, the assignment required preparation, resilience, and trust in the team.

A helicopter was kept on standby in case of emergency, but the work was completed through determination, field experience, and a shared commitment to getting the job done safely.

Today, a project like this would be planned and supported very differently. But the story remains an important example of the spirit that has guided TULLOCH since the beginning.

Our team has always been willing to go farther, work harder, and take on challenging assignments in remote places when our clients need us. That willingness to put in a little more effort, especially when the work is difficult, helped define who we are today.

On June 10 and 11, members of our team will be walking the floor at the Canadian Mining Expo at the McIntyre Community Centre in Timmins.

We’ll also be in Red Lake for the Shared Spirits Partner Gathering and Golf Tournament on June 10, followed by the Evolution Mining Tradeshow Workshop on June 11, where TULLOCH will have a booth set up to connect with partners and participating businesses.

Last week, friends and family joined more than 50 team members from across TULLOCH’s Ontario offices at Silver Creek Golf Course & Restaurant in Garden River for the Larry Jackson Golf Classic.

We had perfect weather for a great day on the links, bringing staff together for golf, connection, and celebration, followed by food and drinks as the team gathered to honour Larry, share stories, and mark an incredible career.

The day was a fitting celebration of Larry’s retirement as Engineering General Manager and his transition into the role of Senior Advisor. While we expect his golf calendar may be a little busier moving forward, Larry remains only a phone call away when the team needs advice, perspective, and the benefit of decades of experience.

Larry joined TULLOCH in 2013 and has worked in the industry for nearly 40 years. A consummate professional, Larry commands respect wherever he goes and has provided more than a decade of leadership and mentorship to our staff and his peers on the Senior Leadership team. Known for being knowledgeable, practical, and direct, Larry has a way of bringing calmness and clarity to complex situations.

Congratulations, Larry, and thank you for your years of service, professionalism, commitment, and guidance. You have made a lasting impact on everyone at TULLOCH. We wish you all the best in this next chapter!
