Canadian Used Farm Equipment:
Inventory levels of Canadian used farm equipment on MarketBook.ca and other Sandhills Global platforms have been trending sideways. This trend continued in August, with inventory levels decreasing 0.94% month over month, although inventory increased by 10.34% year over year. Tractor categories, particularly those 300 horsepower and greater, showed the largest inventory level increases, up 4.13% M/M and 49.1% YOY.
Asking values in this market increased by 0.78% M/M and 9.07% YOY. Notably, 175- to 299-horsepower tractors led other categories in monthly asking value decreases with a 1.34% drop, while combine harvesters posted the largest YOY increase at 10.09%.
Auction values were up 1.47% M/M and 14.57% YOY. Used combine harvester auction values rose more than other categories, increasing by 1.53% M/M and 19.17% YOY, indicating strong demand in the Canadian farm equipment market.
Canadian Used Heavy-Duty:
Inventory levels in this market continued a downward trend in August with decreases of 5.67% M/M and 7.41% YOY. Used sleeper trucks drove monthly inventory changes with a 5.76% M/M decrease, while used day cab trucks influenced YOY changes more than other categories with a 7.65% drop.
Asking values are also trending downward. Asking values decreased by 5.43% M/M and 4.1% YOY in August. Used sleeper trucks led the monthly decline, with asking prices down 7.11% M/M, and used day cabs showed the largest YOY decrease, down 15.02%.
Auction values in the Canadian used heavy-duty truck market have declined more rapidly. In August, auction values decreased by 10.05% M/M and 4.73% YOY. The used sleeper truck category posted the largest monthly decline, with auction values down 11.33%, and used day cab trucks exhibited the steepest year-over-year drop, with auction values down 18.5%.
Canadian Used Heavy-Duty Construction Equipment:
Sandhills has observed an upward trend in the Canadian used heavy-duty construction equipment market for the past four months. In August, inventory decreased slightly, by 0.05% M/M, but was up 9.99% YOY. The used crawler dozer category posted the largest M/M inventory decrease at 0.54%, while the used wheel loader category exhibited the largest YOY inventory increase at 16.38%.
Asking values in this market have been steady over the past month. Asking values increased by 0.31% M/M and 0.25% YOY in August. The used crawler dozer category showed the largest M/M asking value increase at 1.91% and the largest YOY increase at 4.88%.
Auction values were up 1.43% M/M and 4.93% YOY in August and are trending up. The used crawler dozer category posted the largest M/M auction value increase at 2.22% and the largest YOY increase at 6.97%.
Canadian Used Medium-Duty Construction Equipment:
Inventory levels in Canada's used medium-duty construction market are trending upward. In August, inventory levels increased by 0.87% M/M and 12.48% YOY. Used wheel skid steers led other categories in monthly changes with a 2.48% increase, while used track skid steers led in YOY changes with a 24.54% gain.
Asking values in this market are also trending upward. Asking values were up 1.15% M/M and 2.16% YOY in August. The used loader backhoes category posted the largest M/M asking value increase at 3.21% and the largest YOY asking value increase at 7.42%.
Canadian used medium-duty construction equipment auction values have been rising in recent months. In August, auction values increased by 1.81% M/M and 5.6% YOY. The used loader backhoe category showed the largest M/M auction value increase at 5.43% and the largest YOY auction value increase at 11.77%.
