Too much heater is a real problem. So is too little.

The propane side of Hot & Spooky comes in two sizes:

ZB-G60A — 40–60K BTU, heats 234–352 cubic metres. Garages, smaller shops, and job sites that don't need the big gun.
ZB-G100A — 70–100K BTU, heats 410–586 cubic metres. Bigger shops, barns, framed-in job sites.

Quick math: length × width × ceiling height, in metres. A 9 × 12 m shop with 4 m ceilings is 432 cubic metres. That's G100A territory.

Everyone ends up in the shop after Thanksgiving dinner anyway. Might as well be warm in there.

The ZB-K125 is the big one. 125,000 BTU, heating up to 740 cubic metres, built for machine sheds, warehouses, large shops and ag buildings, where a smaller heater only makes the corner next to it comfortable.

Kerosene is the pick when it gets properly cold. Propane performance drops as the temperature does. Kerosene doesn't have that problem. The 38-litre tank means you're not refuelling every time you turn around.

Water expands about 9% when it freezes. Pump housings don't.

If your water pump or pressure washer worked this summer, there's probably water sitting in it right now. One hard frost and that's a cracked housing and a phone call in April you didn't want to make.

Ten minutes before freeze-up:

Pull the drain plug on your water pump and let the casing empty completely.
Run pump antifreeze through your pressure washer pump.
Add fuel stabilizer and run the engine a few minutes so it reaches the carburetor, or run the carb dry. Your manual will say which.
Store it somewhere dry, and above freezing if you've got the room.
