I am so thankful for all the volunteers who make this possible. ❤️

I don't think I say it enough... but really... how do you thank a group of people who have supported your dreams for over 6 years? How do you thank someone for being part of removing almost 2 million pounds of marine debris in that time?

I try my best to show my appreciation... not just for the big things, but the little things too! The snacks, a bed to sleep on, that bag of seaglass, the use of a trailer and the list goes and on on! (For days!)

One of the things I am most thankful for though... is those smiles. It's important in this kind of work to have positivity around you and a lot of you provide that.... thankfully 😉

Another clean up coming up in Annapolis County!

Another not often visited shoreline we happily have recieved access to. Team Leader Elspeth has been working hard at this area near Hampton and has brought a lot of other folks along to help.

Now that we have secured a good access, a dumpster and free day on a weekend - we are headed out to help, too! You're invited, but please keep in mind the shoreline is a little challenging. We will still call this a family friendly clean up though! (Most kids love exploring rocky terrain!)

Mark your calendars and come on out. We have bags and gloves for the family to use. Please no dogs at this clean up!

MAJOR MILESTONE UNLOCKED!

We officially crossed 500,000 lobster bands removed from our coastlines! That is over half a million pieces of small rubber and plastic kept out of marine ecosystems thanks to this incredible community. Here is where our total impact stands for the week of October 23rd, 2026:

Total Cleaned in 2026: 148,787 lbs
Cleanups Reported: 1,784
Daily Average: 504 lbs/day
Lobster Bands Found: 505,083
Total Since Aug 2020: 1,926,556 lbs

We are closing in fast on 2 MILLION pounds total since we started!

Every single cleanup, every volunteer hour, and every piece of trash picked up adds up to cleaner oceans and safer shorelines. Thank you to everyone hitting the beaches with us! Keep logging your cleanups

These "Twisted Tides" earrings made by JL Crafter are one of our newest items available!

Crafted with purpose and passion, these handcrafted earrings give new life to marine debris salvaged directly from Nova Scotia's shorelines during clean ups with Scotian Shores

Each pair is hand-knotted using cleaned and repurposed fishing bait bag strings. Lightweight, vibrant, and rich with local coastal charm, they allow you to wear a piece of ocean conservation while keeping plastic waste out of our seas.

Impact: Every purchase supports marine conservation, local shoreline restoration efforts and a local artist! We have more earrings available but we needed to show off a few pairs to start!

Did somebody say HELICOPTER?!

They did! They did! We have a helicopter coming to help with a clean up! This is such exciting news because it means we are going to make a difference somewhere that we otherwise wouldn't be able to.

For this clean up mission we had to pick somewhere close to Halifax that we can get to by foot. I also needed to ensure that:

🌊 There's a concentration of debris
🌊 That debris isn't easily removed by other means (hiking it out, ATV trails, boat landings)
🌊 It's a place of high ecological value and folks care about it
🌊 We do a good job so the helicopter comes back to help again!!!

So! That brings us to Pennant Point. A stunning headland, about a five kilometer hike past Crystal Crescent Beach. It's a natural landscape that a lot of folks really love. ❤️ Many hikers are bringing back the smaller debris, and we think that's great! Sadly, there are quite a few bigger items sitting out there, including lobster traps, tires, big buoys and rope tangles. These items are just too much to hike back that distance.

So now, with air support on the horizon, we need help bagging up the big stuff! We have a few dates lined up to prepare the debris for flight and we are hoping YOU can join us! But PLEASE know 🙏 This is going to be hard. Waivers will be signed. Warnings will be given. Legs will be tired.

But I think with helicopter help... we can do this! AND. I think it will be an epic story to be part of! Join us 💙 🚁 🌊 Nova Scotia Government Fisheries and Oceans Canada

Here's a video from our waterfall adventure!

McNeily Brook Falls. To get here you need to know the tides, not be super afraid of heights AND have a taste for adventure!

We removed about 75 pounds of debris this day, but left a lot more. Winter is approaching, so more garbage is washing ashore too! Stay tuned for more group events in your area that you can come help out with ❤️

Last January, our friend Dale took us to a not often visited shoreline near Little Harbour in Shelburne County.

We took what we could that day in the bitter cold 🥶 but left a lot more. So this weekend, we are headed back with our local friends and a BUSLOAD 🚍 of students from DOS - Dalhousie Outdoors Society☀️ !!! YOU are invited too!

The access to the beach is through private property, so make sure to RSVP for the actual meeting location. It is a 500 meter hike to the shoreline, but good ol' Dale will be there with his side by side to help us haul! We have the bags and gloves, but you need to make sure to dress warm, bring snacks and plenty of water. ❤️

We cleaned a waterfall today! McNeily Brook Falls to be exact!

First - we check the tides becaue this is the Bay of Fundy and if the tides aren't right, you can't get here. Then we decend down 200 feet of sandy embankment while holding on to ropes, then hike a kilometer to the waterfall where there is a concentration of marine debris at the base of the cliff.

We filled our bags with plastic bottles, styrofoam and a few other things, then headed back. I can confirm - the way up is A LOT harder. Our 75 lbs of debris definitely felt like a lot more!

But really... I can't complain. I am thankful for this body that takes me on awesome adventures. We were blessed with perfect weather, stunning scenery and a few cool rocks too!

Did you do a clean up today?!
