Every wood deck post is on the clock the day it goes in the ground.

"Helical piles cost more than a wood post." Today — yep, they do.

But here's the math nobody puts on the quote: wood rots faster than ever now, even pressure treated. So you're not choosing between expensive and cheap. You're choosing between paying once… or paying again in a few years — and hoping nobody's standing on it when it finally gives.

The cheapest post in the ground is the one you never have to replace. It's why we spec piles into every deck we design — the client never has to think about it again.

Some clients come to us with designs in mind. As we work on them, some added features jump out as something we have to include. These clients had a pretty big roof full of wasted space, so we decided to add a little bonus area with a balcony. This way, when someone builds next door, they can still go up and enjoy the gorgeous water view they have. It's also now a great hangout space, or room for guests.

This was something that wasn't on their wish list or even discussed at all as an option — but I knew it was a space they needed to add, and they loved the idea. The window over this kitchen sink? Stopped us in our tracks

Say hello to one of our favorite designs yet. Every morning at this sink comes with a view, and every evening the light just pours right in. It's that little "everyday" detail that quietly makes a house feel like home.

And there's a whole lot to love beyond it — 2,350 sq ft on the main floor plus a 951 sq ft bonus level, 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths, all wrapped up in that timeless modern farmhouse look.

Wet feet tracking pool water through the whole house? Hard pass.

One of our favourite little design moves is tucking a bathroom right where you actually need it. On this plan, Bath 2 sits just off the mudroom — a few steps from the porch and pool — so the kids can towel off, use the washroom, and be back in the water without a single drip on the good floors.

And here's the bonus: it works just as well coming home. Pull into the garage, kids pile out and make a beeline for the bathroom — no muddy trek through the whole house first.

It's one of those things you don't think about until you're living it… which is exactly why we love catching it on the plans, long before anyone pours concrete. Future-you says thanks :)
