We created Conrex Futures to provide mentoring and practical experience to the next generation of professionals in our industry.

Each year we provide paid internships to select students who go on to higher education and employment.

Karm Desai was one of the first participants while he was an engineering student at McMaster University. We caught up with him recently. He is now moving on to the University of Illinois entering a year and half program in pursuit of a Masters in Autotomy and Robotics.

His time with Conrex proved to be very influential in fine-tuning his interest and career aspirations.

“Actually being there in an engineering department was completely different form school of course,” he says. “Getting the chance to work on robotics inspired me. I got to see their robotics room in action and learned about some of the coding required for such precision equipment.”

1967.

Almost 60 years ago.

This plate was an important link to our past and a pathway for a returning customer.

Our friends at SaskPower needed to replace a head we built way back in Canada’s centennial year. Their only clue to who made it was this plate.

NatWeld Steel.

That was what we were called back then. Our Toronto location was founded as National Welding in 1948. They searched us out and we were able to provide them with the new heads they needed.

Pretty amazing.

When you’ve been around as long as we have and enjoy a reputation for quality and service, it shows up in the most unexpected ways.
