PETZL ASAP Lock through the years Gen 1, 2 and 3.
Significant and really good changes for the 2026 model. Smaller, integrated captive for the Clevis ( no more string ). Ability to unlock the lock button under slight load. New ASAP'Sorber Axess makes a very clean connection. Excellent upgrades. Yes the Gen 1 in the photo is retired.

Can the Petzl ASAP be made drop proof? Well not by adding anything similar to an auxiliary lanyard cord. However, a clever rope tech posted something like this a few years ago, so let's see it again. This is not a petzl approved method. Does it work?
Also, look how small this new ASAP is, as small as a carabiner, rated for 250kg with the asap'sorber axess

Have we mentioned how cool the new asap is?
Here is another perspective shot. It's smaller than a CROLL. That's right. Smaller than a chest ascender.

How the times have changed.
dropping this new ASAP for 2026 is a brilliant upgrade to their mobile fall arrest line.
Come by the training centre and take it for a test drive.

Here's a photo of the asap over the years.
keeps upping the ante.
