The CAAF Fuse33 Makerspace Residency is offered by the Calgary Allied Art Foundation (CAAF). CAAF’s aim is to support emerging artists to reach their full potential. By providing space and funding, this CAAF Residency at Fuse33 enables emerging artists to further explore their creative practice and take advantage of the programs and equipment at Fuse33 to expand their practice with new skills.
Equipment at Fuse33 includes:
laser cutting and engraving
3D printers
UV printers
sewing machines
metal and wood shops
Residencies are offered in 6 month durations and include:
Standard Monthly Membership to Fuse33 for the duration of your residency
A stipend of $3,000 to be used towards materials and the training required to use the equipment at Fuse33.
All residents are required to purchase an annual membership to CAAF; $20 will be taken from the stipend to pay for the membership. For artists who do not reside in Calgary, CAAF is unable to provide any additional funding or assistance for travel to and from Calgary, nor for accommodations during the residency. Preference will be given to artists residing in Canada.
Applications will be reviewed by an impartial committee, who will base their selections on the overall quality of each application. Artist submissions will be evaluated on the project proposal, artistic merit, need for studio space, and quality of past work.
All artists selected for the CAAF Residency are expected to undertake this opportunity professionally, respecting the studio, work spaces and their neighbours while acting as representatives of CAAF.
