In fact, our proWRAP® qualified for ISO - International Organization for Standardization’s 17824 Design Validation Grade V1 for screen burst and collapse. This validation ensures that even in seemingly low-pressure applications, the risk of completion problems, screen failure, or lost wells caused by collapse or burst can be lowered by using quality sand control devices such as proWRAP. Thanks to our partners at Stress Engineering Services, Inc. who helped us with testing.

This week RGL held a virtual Sand Control Fundamentals Training Course in conjunction with the Society of Petroleum Engineers Thermal Well Integrity and Design Symposium. Dr. Mahdi Mahmoudi, pictured here at our Leduc office, covered the basics on sand control design and the common failure mechanisms seen in the field today. Dr. Vahid Fattahpour and Alberto Andrés Uzcátegui also assisted throughout the course.

Today we mark the anniversary and loss of those on board Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752. The impact of the tragedy is still felt by our team and our partners in the research community at the University of Alberta.

RGL's research collaborator, Dr. Pedram Mousavi, his wife Dr. Mojgan Daneshmand, and their two daughters were among the flight's 176 passengers.

Dr. Mousavi, an electrical engineer, made significant contributions to RGL as a leader of a research group focusing on wireless downhole power and data transfer. His team is developing intelligent wireless devices that will work toward making oil and gas operations safe and more cost-effective.

In their honour, RGL launched the annual $2,500 Mousavi-Daneshmand Engineering Innovation Award for university students pursuing a Master’s or PhD degree in an energy-related field. We hope their legacy of contribution to innovation continues even in their passing.

Recently, Seaming Operator Felipe Quismorio received his 10-year service award!

Felipe has been part of the RGL proSEAM™ division as an operator for a decade. He provides extensive knowledge and understanding of our manufacturing process and the machines and is a respected member of the team. His peers say Felipe takes on all new challenges with a positive attitude and contributes always where needed. Thanks for all the continued effort and dedication throughout the years!
