We’re a few weeks into the flying season! We’ve been in the air, in the field, and planning what’s next.

Chris Alvarez created this incredible artwork to welcome everyone to the office, showcasing the range of creativity in our technical field. It captures the feeling of this season: open skies, open opportunities, and the start of another busy year.

Each landscape tells a story, with snow-capped peaks, meandering waterways, and the day's final light all showing patterns, elevation, and interconnection.

At our core, GIS is about seeing the bigger picture; transforming views like this into data that supports smarter on-the-ground decisions.

On Earth Day, we’re reminded that understanding our world is the first step towards protecting it.

At the intersection of technology and the environment, GIS helps turn data into insights that support smarter decisions for sustainable development, responsible resource management, and resilient communities. From mapping ecosystems to monitoring change over time, we’re proud to contribute to a clearer picture of our planet, dataset by dataset.

A classic fairground icon, as seen in LiDAR scan. This is Big Eli, the Ferris wheel at Heritage Park. Originally sold in 1923 by the Eli Bridge Company to Alonzo Palmer of St. Thomas, Ontario, it was later operated at various carnivals across Ontario. Jim Conklin of Conklin and Garrett Ltd. purchased the wheel in 1977 for his antique midway collection and donated it to Heritage Park in 1984. LiDAR data records intricate details, demonstrating how modern geospatial technology can aid in preserving and studying historic attractions.
