MarShield was pleased to attend the CRPA / CARST Symposium, connecting with radiation safety professionals, researchers, and industry leaders from across Canada.
During the event, Rajkaran Singh toured both the Canadian Light Source and the Fedoruk Centre's Cyclotron Facility, gaining further insight into the research and technologies supporting Canada's nuclear and scientific communities.
The symposium also provided an opportunity to connect with CRPA board members, attend technical presentations, strengthen relationships with existing clients from organizations such as Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) and CRPA, and establish new industry connections.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to meet with us. Events like these help strengthen collaboration across Canada's radiation safety, research, and nuclear sectors.

Canada’s nuclear industry is entering a new phase of SMR development, facility planning, and clean energy infrastructure.
As projects become more complex, radiation shielding decisions need to happen earlier in the design process.
MarShield was proud to attend the 45th Annual CNS Conference in Calgary to join conversations around nuclear science, SMR shielding, and industry collaboration.
With more than 45 years of radiation shielding experience, MarShield designs and supplies ISO 9001:2015 and CSA-N299:3:16 certified custom shielding for demanding nuclear environments.
Syed Abidi also attended OCNI’s Ready4SMR workshop to support discussions around how nuclear energy, and the shielding required to support it, is extending into SMR applications.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the conversations shaping the next stage of Canada’s nuclear sector.

Need radiation shielding that can be built, moved, modified, or expanded as your facility changes?
MarShield lead bricks are available in straight, interlocking, machined, and milled styles for temporary or permanent shielding applications. They can be used for shielded rooms, walls, caves, glove boxes, hot cells, partitions, storage areas, transportation shielding, nuclear shielding, and ballast weight.
Interlocking lead bricks are designed with a chevron-style tongue and groove configuration to help reduce radiation leakage through gaps while supporting a stable, tight-fitting wall system.

AI data centres are pushing power demand into a new category: high-density, continuous, and difficult to interrupt. Nuclear energy and SMRs are entering the conversation as operators look for dependable power that can support large-scale AI infrastructure.
For SMRs to support data campuses, shielding needs to be part of the plan from the start.
Microreactor and SMR environments require radiation shielding for reactor safety, occupational exposure limits, and regulatory compliance. Compact and modular systems also create specific shielding considerations around facility footprint, material performance, installation requirements, and long-term operation.
As AI infrastructure grows, the power systems behind it need shielding strategies built for safety, compliance, and performance.

Walter Silva had a great time yesterday at the OCNI Bruce County Charity Golf Tournament at Saugeen Golf Club.
It was a valuable opportunity to connect with Tyler Smith, Sterling Eagleson, and John Torossian from Bruce Power, and to spend time with others across Ontario’s nuclear supply chain.
As Walter recently shared with OCNI, “One of OCNI’s key strengths is its ability to bring together utilities, facility operators, engineers, and suppliers. For a specialized manufacturer like MarShield, this engagement reinforces the importance of technical expertise, quality assurance, and collaboration in delivering dependable shielding solutions that protect people, infrastructure, and operations.”
Thank you to OCNI for hosting a wonderful event.
