1890s Morse Bricks - Now Available!
Carefully salvaged in preparation for a full facade rebuild this summer by Arcana Restoration , these late 1800s clay bricks are filled with personality and texture. The original 1892 Leslieville home had seen multiple layers of paint and cladding, which now give these slightly-tumbled bricks their unique personality.

Available in red or buff, please visit our website for more info! (Link in Bio!)

1910s Wolfrey Bricks - Now Available!
These larger-than-average heritage bricks were salvaged by our team from a 1912 home in Riverdale, which incorporated Victorian detailing and a strategic mix of red and buff brick to make up the facade, sides, and back walls of the home. We learned that the first occupant of the house was a bricklayer... perhaps he handpicked these bricks himself!

Interestingly, this unique size and colour of brick was recently a near-perfect match for an 1897 home in the Annex, currently undergoing work by . We love discovering ties between different Toronto neighbourhoods through brick reclamation.

Available blends: Red, Red Tumbled, Buff, & Mixed Tumbled.

Dimensions (some variation due to reclaimed nature): 8-7/8"x2-1/2"x4"

COMING SOON: In collaboration with , we are about to begin the deconstruction a 1941 Lytton Park home, built with 15,000+ of Toronto-made Standard Brick that we will be salvaging and diverting from landfill.

The Standard Brick Company operated from 1911-1962 on Greenwood Ave (across the street from iconic competitor J. Price/Toronto Brick Company). At the time this house was built, Standard was one of 21 brick manufacturers still operating in the city, before the clay beds in the area became depleted. These bricks are a burgundy-red colour and will be well-suited to both new construction and restoration work.

Fun Fact: Based on our research, the first owner of this home was none other than the ex-Toronto Mayor C. Alfred Maguire (in office 1922-23), and this home was one of the first to be built on this street.

Reclaimed from the recently demolished Brantford Waterworks Engineer's House (c.1889) and pump building (c. 1930), we are excited to be actively salvaging thousands of high-quality exterior buff bricks this month. Thank you to for your collaboration in allowing us to work alongside you on this site.

The "B.B." marked buff bricks from the Engineer's House date back to the 1880s. We believe these bricks may have been manufactured by the local manufacturer Blacker's Brick Works, which operated from multiple sites in Brantford and specialized in buff and red brick from 1836 until 1890.

In 1930 the Brantford Waterworks facility was expanded to include a state-of-the-art pump building and filter building, using buff bricks in an Art Deco / Modernist style to complement the other older buff brick buildings on the site.

Inventory updates coming soon -- please check out our website for pricing and to inquire!

Join us at Biidaasige Park for a conversation about the flood protection work and what happened to some of the materials left behind. We'll go deep on the Ookwemin Minising Placemaking Pop-Up arriving nearby in June, a collaboration between C40 Cities, Waterfront Toronto and the City of Toronto. Designed by Ha/f Climate, GXN (a branch of 3XN in Copenhagen), and AKT II Engineers, the structure is built primarily from salvaged materials and designed from the start to be taken apart, and used again, in unique ways. Ouroboros Deconstruction and Arcana Materials are contributing to the project and will walk you through how they find and give new life to materials that would otherwise disappear into a landfill. You will also hear about the design process, mapping materials and some of the challenges surrounding the reuse of salvaged materials.

Location: Old Fire Hall 30, Biidaasige Park (also online)

Coming soon to our inventory: J.C. Edwards Ruabon quarry tiles, manufactured in the early 1900s in Wales then built into the Brantford Waterworks expansions around the 1920s. 6”x6” and with a durable 5/8” thickness, these beautiful tiles were not only aesthetic but also durable and practical in high traffic areas.

This manufacturer was active from 1903 to 1956 alongside other brick and tilemaking companies that utilized the local rich Etruria Marl clay beginning in the 19th century, giving the Ruabon village the nickname “Terracottapolis”. These highly durable, rich red quarry tiles were used throughout the UK and occasionally exported to Canada for special projects.

Love ‘em? Let us know! Reclamation in progress this month.
