Cylinder Head Resurfacing — Precision Matters. 🔧

A cylinder head needs a properly machined, flat sealing surface before it goes back on the engine. Over time, excessive heat, wear, corrosion, and operating conditions can leave the surface warped, pitted, or uneven.

At Dave Diesel Machine Shop, cylinder head resurfacing is part of the rebuilding process. Machining removes a controlled amount of material to restore the sealing surface and prepare the head for proper reassembly.

⚠️ Replacing a PACCAR unit pump? Don’t make this mistake.

What looks like a bad PACCAR injector isn’t always the injector. Fine metal contamination from a failing low-pressure gear supply pump can travel through the fuel system and damage the valves inside the unit pumps, causing fuel to bypass to the return and reducing common-rail pressure.

That’s why when diagnosing a PACCAR fuel system, don’t test only one component. Send the unit pumps, all six injectors, and the low-pressure supply pump for proper testing and contamination inspection.

Finding the root cause now can help prevent repeat unit-pump failure and doing the expensive repair twice.

Ever wonder what actually goes into rebuilding a heavy-duty turbocharger? 🔧💨

At Dave's Diesel, every turbo goes through a complete process — teardown, cleaning and refinishing, precision balancing, cartridge assembly and high-speed testing before it ever goes back on a truck.

The balancing process covers the compressor wheel, turbine shaft and complete rotating assembly. Once assembled, the turbo can be tested at speeds well beyond normal heavy-duty operating RPM with full oil feed.

And the most important part? 100% of the turbochargers built are run and audited on the test stand before leaving the facility. If there’s a problem, the goal is to catch it here — not after it’s installed on your truck.
