To prepare your established for winter, our Fall fertilizer (20-5-20) is a great option as it encourages summer heat stress repair, storing of carbohydrates and thickening of cell walls. For new seed or sod, our Starter (8-32-16) is best as it facilitates root growth and seedling development.

The simple answer is very soon. As the air and soil temperatures drop along with sunlight, the seed will have a hard time germinating and even if it does, a frost could kill it. The complicated answer is something called dormant seeding. Check our upcoming posts for more information on that.
