Meanwhile, the real magic happens behind the scenes! That robot didn’t program itself. It still takes skilled people to dial it in, set it up, prep the parts and make sure it lays down welds exactly where they need to be.

Robots are not the perfect employee by any means, but they sure do make our lives easier!

Waking up in Airdrie this morning like….. 😒

We weren’t expecting to see this much snow on the ground! Easily the worst storm we’ve had all winter. Of course it shows up in the spring.

Road conditions are rough out there! Give yourself extra time, keep your distance and drive safe.

We are open and operating as usual, but like everyone else, we are digging out the shop and taking it a little slower today.

🔧 Johns Tool Tip 🔧

Don’t have a tiny funnel to fill your bottle Jack?

Here’s a simple trick that works in a pinch!

All you need is a screwdriver.

Pour your oil down the shaft of the screwdriver and let it guide the flow of oil straight into the fill hole. No spills, no mess, no problem.

It’s little things like this that highlight the importance of experienced teams with diverse backgrounds. They make us all better, one job at a time!

We’ve embraced new technology, automation and robotics to stay efficient and competitive in this modern world of manufacturing. These new systems seem to cause some old school welders a great deal of anxiety. We just want to clear the air a little. Our roots are grounded in craftsmanship, quality of work, work ethic and customer service. We don’t use automation because we don’t have hand skills… we use it because we need our team to focus on what’s really important. Making our customers look good. 💪🏻

We work with aluminum for a wide range of projects, delivering fabricated components that meet the demands of industrial, commercial, and custom applications.

While a robotic welder is working away in the background, the rest of the shop keeps moving.

That’s the beauty of it. Fitting, set up and welding are all taking place at the same time.

Take this 29 second clip! There are 6 parts in rotation all at the same time. Two being welded, two waiting to be welded and two being fit. How’s that for efficiency!

Here at East Lake Manufacturing we love incorporating automation whenever we can. The results are undeniable.

There is a lot of talk about robots and AI take”taking over” welding jobs.

We see it differently.

Robotics aren’t there to replace skilled welders. There are here to support them. They take on the repetitive, high-volume work so our team can focus on what really takes skill: fitting, problem solving, custom fabrication, quality control and programming.

At the end of the day, a robot is only as good as the people behind it. It takes a team of hardworking people to ensure everything goes as planned.
