Most attachment problems aren't attachment problems. They're a mismatch between the attachment and the machine running it.
Here's what we see constantly: a contractor buys a hydraulic attachment β an auger, a mulcher, a cold planer β and it either underperforms or overheats the machine. They think the attachment is garbage. Usually, it's not. The machine's hydraulic flow rate isn't matched to what the attachment needs to run properly.
Every hydraulic attachment has a required flow range β measured in gallons per minute (GPM). Your skid steer, excavator, or compact loader has a fixed output. If the attachment needs 25 GPM and your machine puts out 15, you'll get weak performance and heat buildup. If the attachment needs 15 GPM and your machine pushes 30, you risk blowing seals.
Three things to check before you buy any hydraulic attachment:
β’ Your machine's hydraulic flow output β it's in the spec sheet or we can look it up for you
β’ The attachment's required flow range β min and max GPM
β’ Your machine's operating pressure (PSI) β flow and pressure are both part of the equation
If you don't have the spec sheet, call us. Chuck has 39 years in this industry β he knows the numbers off the top of his head for most machines, and if he doesn't, he'll find them.
We match attachments to machines every day. It's part of what we do before any sale leaves this yard.
