Priateli ("Friends") Bulgaria "Priateli - Veliko Tarnovo" is an official charity, supporting children and adults in need.

We support projects ranging from helping pay 1euro a day for food to help keep a child in education, to buying equipment for children with disabilities.

HELP NEEDED!
Priateli-Veliko Tarnovo Foundation exists to help disadvantaged people in the VT area and was registered in the court of Veliko Tarnovo, and with the Ministry of Justice (Sofia) in 2010.
Priateli has recently had a cry for help from the Home for Severely Disabled Young People in Gorna Oryahovitsa. This is a home for thirteen severely disabled young people, age 9 to 29 who have been abandoned by their parents. They urgently need a washing machine and dryer - the last ones, bought secondhand two or three years ago by Priateli, have now given up. Government funding for these institutions provides a roof but little more, and it is up to charities like Priateli to fund most of their needs.

HELP NEEDED URGENTLY!
The Family Home for severely disabled young people in Gorna Oryahovitsa urgently needs a washing machine and clothes drier but, unfortunately, we cannot help them at the moment. If you can, either by donating money or appliances, please get in touch as soon as possible

A FANTASTIC DAY!! The International Day of the Premature Baby and we were invited to the Neo-Natal Hospital in VT to meet some of the babies whose lives have been saved by the respirator that we were able to buy thanks to the generosity of all of you! Seven of the babies were there, AND we got to meet the latest to benefit - twins weighing just 1.2kilos each. A HUGE thank you to each and every one of you!!!

CARAVAN WANTED
Can anyone with an unwanted caravan donate or sell cheaply to a lovely couple.
We have had a disaster at Trinity Rocks Farm. A couple with a newly adopted Bulgarian 6 Yr old have lost their Caravan to the overflowing River. They changed their caravan for a larger one for their little 6 year olds arrival. This was her first visit to the caravan. It was washed away with all the contents. If you have or know of someone, please PM. me. Also another lovely caring couple lost their two berth caravan and contants. If anyone has one they don't need, please help. Summer is here and so are we!! A quiet start to the year from us, but we have been busy!!! Today sees the official opening of the new playground for disabled children at the Alen Mak kindergarten at Gorna Oriahovitsa - fruits of the hard work and dedication of Rory, Maeve and Chloe who spent more than two years designing, raising funds for and building this wonderful facility which is sure to bring a smile to many faces for years to come. And a huge thank you to Lynda Finnegan at Yovovski Yetts Eco Hostel near Tryavna, who welcomed her first group of the summer of children from local orphanages who will be enjoying a range of activities and FUN at this beautiful mountain retreat. Congratulations all - fantastic work.

An update on the ventilator - so far it has saved the lives of two premature babies which is fabulous and ENTIRELY down to you all. Dr Nikolova is extremely proud of it and never misses an opportunity to tell other specialists, including the big city folk at the maternity hospital in Sofia. Well done!!

A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to help us make the final payment on the respirator which is right now helping to save the lives of babies in VT Hospital Maternity Unit - we now have more than enough.....

Christmas is over, so back to work!! We hope that you have all had a good, relaxing holiday - certainly we needed a break as the run up to Christmas was so hectic.
As many of you will know the new ventilator arrived for the premature baby unit in VT just before the end of December - a great Christmas present for the neo-natal hospital.
Thanks to a new initiative by the ABC English Language Centre we were able to give even more presents to disadvantaged children this year - the yound students and their parents were asked to donate toys; an amazing amount was given this way. Fantastic!! - the true spirit of Christmas.
So, lots achieved in 2013 - the yearly report will be available soon - if anyone wants a copy please forward their email address to [email protected].....AND A HAPPY, PEACEFUL AND PROSPEROUS 2014 TO YOU ALL!!! ###X
