After an order awarded in April by the same client, John Cockerill Energy has signed a new contract with Ansaldo Energia for the design and supply of a heat recovery boiler installed behind a AE94.3A GT for the new combined cycle power plant of Ptolemais, in Western Macedonia (Greece).

This power plant previously operated as a 660 MW coal-fired facility. It will be replaced by a new, high-efficiency 460 MW combined cycle plant.
The project will significantly contribute to Greece’s energy transition, energy independence, and decarbonization, supporting the planned conversion from lignite to natural gas in Western Macedonia.

Operated by Public Power Corporation S.A. (PPC), Greece’s main electricity provider, the new power station will reduce fuel consumption, lower operating costs, and contribute to a significant reduction in CO₂ emissions. In addition, its increased ramp rate will enable rapid response to grid fluctuations linked to the growing pe*******on of renewable energy.

As part of its ambition to become coal-free by 2026, PPC is transitioning from a coal-heavy national utility to a low-carbon, regional, technology-driven energy group, using natural gas as a bridge technology.

This new combined cycle power station will supply electricity to approximately 900,000 households in the region.

This order reflects the consistency of our engagement, combining strong technical expertise with a trusted customer relationship. Our client has once again placed its trust in John Cockerill: this will be the fifth unit designed and supplied to Ansaldo Energia by our Belgian teams, following previous orders for power plants in Tunisia and Hungary.

Engineering Leadership for Ex*****on Excellence!
John Cockerill India recently wrapped up a two-day Engineering Leadership Development Program for 32 engineers and designers, facilitated by Prof. Abhijit Chaudhuri from SDA Bocconi Asia Center.

The goal was specific: build leadership capabilities that translate engineering expertise into safer, faster, and better project delivery.

This wasn't a generic training program. Before the workshop, each participant completed a calibration exercise that surfaced their real challenges across five priorities: Safety by Design, Innovation, Cost Ownership, On-Time Delivery, and Right First Time Quality. That input shaped every case study and simulation that followed.

Participants worked in cross-disciplinary cohorts, applying A3 Problem Solving and 5-Why Analysis to actual project situations. Each person left with an action plan targeting concrete improvement: less rework, better schedule adherence, tighter cost control, and stronger safety thinking at the design stage.

The point was simple. An engineer or designer who treats safety, quality, cost, and delivery as their problem, not someone else's, is the one who moves projects forward and keeps clients coming back.

Major milestone for us with our new electric test furnace!
John Cockerill and its partner CRM Group are pleased to share the successful completion of the testing phase for their brand-new mobile electric test furnace, the e-Batch3.

The trials have delivered highly promising results, confirming the performance and flexibility of this innovative solution.
This containerized e-Batch3 will enable us to carry out advanced thermal process testing on potentially hazardous feedstocks, such as Black Mass or materials contaminated with PFAS or Asbestos, both at our facilities or directly at our customers’ premises.
Moreover, this e-batch3 is equipped with a flue gas treatment, ensuring that dust, organic, and acid gases are not released into the atmosphere.
We can now deploy this mobile bench at our clients' sites, upon request, for on-site testing, or rent it for specific testing campaigns.

This development was supported by the European Union and Wallonie Recherche as part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.

John Cockerill has been awarded an order for a Multiple Hearth Furnace ( ), developed in close collaboration with Shanghai based company, LANKE Environmental Technology Co., Ltd.

Let’s go back to 2025! Last year, John Cockerill signed a strategic partnership with LANKE Environmental Technology Co., Ltd., a leading Chinese environmental technology company to develop sales and promotion of the MHF for SARU application (Oil & Gas sector), with conversion of petrochemical residues into valuable resources through advanced thermal processing.

This was the beginning of joint efforts to promote and market John Cockerill’s advanced Multiple Hearth Furnace process technologies for complex industrial applications across .

With over 150 MHFs worldwide, John Cockerill's ™ technology is poised to reach the Chinese market through LANKE’s strong EPC capabilities.

This new contract is an achievement of this newborn collaboration and reflects the strong complementarity between LANKE's local expertise and John Cockerill's global know‑how.

Together we address some of the most complex industrial challenges and reinforce our long-term commitment to the and environmental markets.

Paris, France - On 4th June, Jean-Luc Maurange, alongside Christophe Malaurie, Thomas Bohner and Caroline Crèvecoeur, visited the John Cockerill Hamon teams in their new offices in Saint-Denis (Paris).
This date was symbolic. It marked exactly 4 years since John Cockerill acquired the assets of the ex-Hamon Group, opening a new chapter for a business with a remarkable legacy.

We are proud to highlight our successful collaboration with Haute École Provinciale de Hainaut – Condorcet and AWEX during a recent international mission to Slovakia dedicated to promoting Belgian expertise and exploring new market opportunities.

A sincere thank you to our partners for the excellent coordination and collaboration that made this initiative possible. Special appreciation also goes to the students, Adrien Meurs, Quentin Rizzi and Arthur Teregulov, as well as Professor Alexandre Mabille, who prepared thoroughly for this mission and represented John Cockerill in Slovakia with professionalism, enthusiasm and dedication.

During the mission, the team had the opportunity to meet with several industrial actors and institutions, opening discussions around future collaborations in the fields of microgrids, green heat solutions and waste recycling technologies. The mission also included presentations at local universities such as the Slovak University of Technology (STU) and the Technical University of Košice (TUKE), further strengthening connections between industry, education and innovation.

In Slovakia, renewable energies currently represent a limited share of the energy mix. However, increasing European ambitions are creating strong potential for future projects, particularly in the automotive, chemical, petrochemical and steel industries. This mission therefore represented a valuable opportunity to better understand the local market, identify promising leads and establish long-term partnerships.

This experience perfectly illustrates the value of strong cooperation between education, industry and international development. We look forward to continuing this collaboration and creating new opportunities together in the future. Thank you once again to everyone involved.

Cette année, pour la 5ème édition de la course de caisses à savon « The Crashline 2026 » l’équipe de John Cockerill, dans le Sud de la France, était de nouveau partante pour relever le défi ! Parés de leurs tenues de footballeurs, nos champions ont assuré l’animation auprès du public avant de lancer leur bolide sur les routes de Salon de Provence.

En amont, ces dernières semaines, ils s’étaient mobilisés pour mettre leurs compétences techniques au service de la cause afin de concevoir un nouvel engin : conception, fabrication, mécanique, impression 3D du moule de la coque du véhicule, stratification du carénage et bien d’autres encore !

En prime, le meilleur chrono ! Une raison de plus d’être fiers de leur performance !

John Cockerill wins contract for electrical steel process lines with JSW Vijayanagar Metallics Limited!

John Cockerill has been awarded a landmark contract by JSW Steel for the design, engineering, supply, supervision of er****on and commissioning of two Annealing & Coating Lines (ACL 2 & ACL 3) and one Annealing & Pickling Line (APL) for its Cold Rolled Non-Oriented (CRNO) Electrical Steel Project in Vijayanagar, Karnataka.

The project will be led by John Cockerill in close cooperation with Fives Stein, bringing together extensive experience in annealing, coating and pickling technologies to meet the specific requirements of electrical steel production and JVML's performance expectations.

This project marks John Cockerill's entry into India's electrical steel processing market and represents an important step in supporting the country's growing demand for high-performance electrical steel used in electric vehicles, renewable energy systems, industrial motors and power infrastructure.

With a production capacity of approximately 600,000 tonnes per annum, the new facilities will contribute to strengthening India's domestic electrical steel value chain and advancing the nation's electrification ambitions.
