From September 16 to 24, IBA took part in 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸, a Europe-wide initiative encouraging citizens, schools, companies and institutions to explore alternatives to private car use and adopt more sustainable travel habits 🚲

Driven by a dedicated team of volunteers, the week featured 7 workshops showcasing alternative mobility solutions contributing to employees’ health & well-being and climate change mitigation.

Here are some highlights of this week:

▪️ IBA's commitment to sustainable mobility was featured on RTBF News (https://www.rtbf.be/article/le-brabant-wallon-champion-wallon-du-velotaf-11786547)
▪️ More than 150 registrations were recorded across all workshops
▪️ More than 30 employees joined the bike testing event to explore or renew a bike lease, building on the 259 employees already benefiting from IBA's bike leasing program (26% activation rate)
▪️ Employees discovered hidden shortcuts and green spaces around our sites, encouraging more active travel between buildings
▪️ IBA ranked among the Top 20 organizations in the Walloon Walking & Cycling Challenge, with more than 1,000 km cycled and over 100 km walked

Yves Jongen receives prestigious Harvard award

On September 19, Yves Jongen, Founder and Chief Technology Officer of IBA, received the 2026 Global Health Catalyst Distinguished Industry Leader Award. It recognizes leaders whose work has made a significant impact on global health, oncology and cancer care.

The Awards Committee honored Yves Jongen for his pioneering leadership in particle accelerator technology and proton therapy, as well as his role in transforming scientific innovation into technologies that help improve cancer treatment worldwide. It also recognized his long-standing commitment to making proton therapy more compact and accessible, helping move the technology from scientific possibility to widespread clinical use.

Last week, IBA attended the annual gathering of HERA Awards partners.

On this occasion, IBA renewed its partnership with the HERA Awards for the 2026-2028 editions, extending a collaboration that has been ongoing since 2017.

Since then, more than 250 laureates from 5 universities and 22 higher education institutions have been recognized for their master and doctoral theses that envision a sustainable world through a systemic, 360° approach.

By renewing this partnership, IBA is proud to continue supporting the HERA Awards in imagining sustainable solutions for future generations, in line with IBA's mission to ‘Protect, Enhance and Save Lives’.

As part of the JDE - Journée Découverte Entreprises, you will have the opportunity to explore IBA's Louvain-la-Neuve site on October 4 (from 10 AM to 5 PM).

Take a guided tour of the assembly hall and get a behind-the-scenes look at the technologies developed by IBA.

Throughout the day, teams from Proton Therapy, RadioPharma Solutions, Industrial Solutions and Dosimetry will be present to showcase their activities and answer questions. The recruitment team will also be on hand to discuss career opportunities at IBA.
