Whether you joined us at SEMI-THERM or couldn’t make it this year, this session is designed to give engineers a clearer look at what a new thermal design process can look like.

Thermal design discovery offers a different way to approach cooling challenges, helping engineers move beyond traditional trial-and-error design loops and toward a faster, more targeted path to viable concepts.

In this 45-minute online session, we’ll show how ColdStream enables forward-thinking engineering teams to discover and generate optimized, manufacturable thermal designs without compromising their existing workflow, manufacturing considerations, or project timelines.

Who is this for?
This session is relevant for:
- Thermal engineers
- CFD engineers
- Design engineers
- R&D and product development teams
- Engineers working on cold plates, heat sinks, electronics cooling, liquid cooling systems, and compact high-power applications

What we’ll cover
We’ll walk through how a thermal design discovery process can help teams:
explore better-performing design directions earlier generate viable cooling concepts based on engineering targets account for manufacturability from the start reduce time spent on manual iteration support more confident thermal design decisions in less time.

If you attended SEMI-THERM, this is a chance to go deeper into the methodology and ask questions live. If you didn’t make it, this is a practical introduction to how generative thermal design can fit into a real engineering workflow.

If you’re a thermal design engineer or designer working on cooling challenges, you’ve likely experienced how much of the process still relies on refining existing concepts rather than discovering entirely new ones.

ColdStream enables forward-thinking design engineers to push the boundaries of thermal design beyond what traditional approaches deliver, without compromising their existing workflow, manufacturing constraints, or project timelines.

That’s exactly what we’ll be discussing in our upcoming workshop at SEMI-THERM 2026.

We’ll explore how thermal design is shifting from simulation-driven iteration toward optimisation-driven discovery, and how generative thermal design can help engineering teams identify higher-performance cooling concepts earlier in development while working alongside existing CAD and CFD workflows.

The workshop includes three industrial case studies showing how optimised cooling designs were generated from real engineering constraints, followed by a live demonstration and discussion.

If you’re attending SEMI-THERM, we’d be glad to see you there.

If you’re unable to attend but are interested in seeing real examples, you can explore our white papers and case studies

A “circular” economy in action

This week, some of team came together to celebrate some recent milestones and simply catch up.

When a customer brings a design to the table, we are always curious to see what it will become. When that design contributes to a locally made product, we are even more eager to support it where we can.

This time, our support came quite naturally the product was designed to keep beer colder for longer. A very real example of thermal performance that everyone around the table could appreciate.

And in case you are wondering yes, we can confirm that the design did an excellent job keeping the Jupiler cold while the heaters were going.

NEW YEAR, NEW ROLE?

We are growing across our R&D, operations and sales teams and looking for people who want to shape the future of thermal design with us.

We are a small and focused team, so you are never just a number.

You will work with like-minded people who are curious, collaborative and driven to build innovative solutions and challenge the status quo in thermal design.

If this sounds like you or someone you know, have a look at the opportunities linked in the comments.

This year we've seen a clear pattern across thermal engineering teams using ColdStream.

The teams that build our standard, high fidelity designs first into their workflow are achieving strong thermal results, often much faster.

These standard designs are not shortcuts or simplified templates. They already demonstrate thermal behaviour, realistic constraints, and reliable performance characteristics. When engineers use them in ColdStream as part of their iteration process it changes the nature of the work.

Instead of spending valuable time just getting to a viable baseline, they start with something predictable and well understood, and immediately focus on meaningful optimisation.

This brings two major advantages in practice.

First, it sets a clear optimisation direction so engineers refine with intent instead of exploring blindly.

Second, these designs create solid performance benchmarks which they can either refine within the best design or use it to inform an fully customised generative design.

When teams move to fully tailored generative designs, they are no longer comparing against weak or rushed starting points.

They are measuring against strong, validated references, which leads to smarter decisions and more confidence in the final result.

We also see an additional benefit. Some users go straight to fully customised generative designs. Even then, incorporating our standard designs into their process still helps.

These designs inform material selection, structural expectations, and realistic manufacturing paths when that aligns with the project. So they guide both performance direction and practical engineering decisions.

What we observe in real projects is fewer wasted iterations, faster convergence, clearer understanding of what really drives performance, and far greater confidence that the final design is truly fit for real world conditions.

If you want a more structured, predictable, and insight driven approach to thermal optimisation, this way of working is proving to be highly effective in practice.
