🇩🇰 Hands-on with advanced breeding technology in Denmark

👉 Students from Bygholm Landbrugsskole gained real-life insight into embryo transfer during a farm visit to dairy producer Kim Jørgensen. 🐄

🧪🔬🧬🧫 Together with specialists from TransEmbryo, they followed the full process – from flushing to transfer – resulting in 6️⃣ viable embryos placed in recipient heifers.

👍 A strong example of how agricultural education brings together:
✅ theory and practice
✅ school and industry
✅ students and cutting-edge technology

🇨🇿 Building a Centre of Excellence for Sustainable and Precision Agriculture

✨ Agricultural College and Secondary School in Benesov, has launched an ambitious strategy aimed at establishing a Centre of Excellence focused on modern agriculture, sustainability, and responsible animal husbandry.

♻️ This strategy responds to some of the most pressing challenges facing agriculture today, including climate change, soil and water protection, rapid technological development, and the increasing emphasis on animal welfare.

👉 The main goal of the strategy is to develop the school’s existing strengths into a leading regional institution specializing in precision agriculture, sustainable farming practices, and responsible livestock management. Through this initiative, the school aims to connect education with innovation, modern technologies, and practical skills that reflect the current and future needs of the agricultural sector.

💻 🚜 One of the first activities organized within the emerging Centre of Excellence was a seminar on Precision Agriculture. In addition to our own students, the seminar was also attended by students from two other secondary schools from the Central Bohemian Region. The event provided participants with valuable insights into the latest developments in agricultural technologies and farm management systems.

🗓️ The establishment of Centres of Excellence is being carried out as part of a project called Implementation of the Long-Term Strategy – Modern and Creative Schools in the Central Bohemian Region. The project implementation period runs from 1 December 2023 to 31 August 2028.

🔜 Through these activities, our school is taking important steps toward becoming a modern educational institution that actively contributes to the future of sustainable and technologically advanced agriculture.

🇱🇺 Luxembourg women's team win silver and bronze at the European Forestry Championships 🌳

👍 Luxembourg enjoyed success at the 22nd European Student Forestry Championships in Austria 🇦🇹 : the women’s team won a silver 🥈 medal in the
team relay, and Tina Bigdowski secured a bronze 🥉 medal in combined-cut.

👉 A total of 22 teams from 17 countries took part. Luxembourg was represented by a men’s team and, for the first time, by a women’s team from the Lycée Technique Agricole in Gilsdref. 👩🏻

💪 The men also impressed on the forestry course. After 16 stations, which tested, among other things, botanical and zoological knowledge, the calculation of tree heights and timber volumes, and a first-aid simulation, they narrowly missed out on a podium place. 😕

😁 In addition to the sporting competitions, the programme also included a cultural exchange. At the ‘International Evening’ held as part of the championship, the Luxembourg delegation presented culinary
specialities from the Grand Duchy and exchanged them with those from other countries.

🔜 The next edition of the European Student Forestry Championships is expected to take place in the Netherlands in 2027. Luxembourg intends
to take part again then.

🇨🇿 National Agribusiness Competition in Benesov 🇨🇿

🗓️ This spring, Agricultural College and Secondary School in Benesov, organized a prestigious competition for final-year students of agricultural secondary schools from across the Czech Republic.

🧑‍🎓👩‍🌾 Each year, the competition tests not only theoretical knowledge but also the practical skills of future agricultural professionals. This year, 2️⃣6️⃣ schools registered for the competition.

🚜🌽🌾🐮 Typical disciplines include precision tractor driving, attaching and adjusting agricultural implements, identifying crops and livestock breeds, and formulating feed rations for cattle. There is also a theoretical test covering economics and agronomy, designed to evaluate students’ ability to think within the broader context of rural entrepreneurship.

👉 Each year, the competition is hosted by a different school – it is always organized by the school whose student won the previous year. The organizing school is not allowed to enter its own contestant that year.
The winner of last year’s competition was student Martin Schenk, a student at our school, which is why this year’s event was organized in Benešov.

🔜 Next year’s competition will take place in Chrudim, as this year’s winner was Lukas Uchytil from the Agricultural College and Secondary School in Chrudim. Our school can now begin choosing and preparing its representative for next year’s competition.

From 🇳🇱 to 🇭🇺 Study Trip for Livestock Farming Students

🗓️ During the study trip from 12 to 19 April 2026, a number of livestock farming students from Hardenberg collaborated with students from Yuverta Horst and DC Terra Groningen. In a group of 1️⃣3️⃣ students, they worked together with Hungarian students and stayed at the school building of Északi ASzC Lippai János Mezőgazdasági Technikum és Szakképző Iskola.

👉 The students worked on project-based assignments and visited a large number of companies. At the beginning of the week, Arany Parmen Kft was visited, a company specialising in the harvesting and storage of apples 🍏.

🐐 🧀 The following day included a visit to the Tiszaadony Start cooperative, a goat farm where goat cheese is produced. After that, Tulipa Kft was on the programme, a large greenhouse complex with an adjoining garden centre. 🌷🌿

🌽🌾 Later in the week, an arable farming business was visited, which proved particularly popular among the students. Some of them even had the opportunity to help with sowing activities.

🐄 🐷 🐑 In addition to visiting the school farm with cows, pigs and sheep, there was also plenty of attention given to recreational activities. Activities included visits to a zoo, a swimming pool and an animal shelter, as well as a walk through the mountain area. 👣🏞️

😁 Overall, the group received a very warm welcome, explored a large part of the region, and both the students and accompanying teachers got to know each other very well. It was a fantastic week!

🇪🇺 This project was co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, which supports international cooperation and exchange in education. Thanks to this support, the students were able to participate in this valuable study trip and collaborate with international partners.

☀️ What a fantastic (and warm!) Day 2! ☀️🐾

🗓️ The second competition day of the EUROPEA Animal Care Competition took place at Wildlands Zoo in Emmen—and it was full of action!

👍 Students tackled a variety of exciting challenges: working in the elephant enclosure (including the unforgettable task of shoveling 85 kilos of dung in just 5 minutes! 💪🐘), completing tasks in the diet kitchen, and taking on a fun challenge where they had to waddle like penguins while moving a large egg with their feet—the fastest team won! 🐧🥚

👉 They also began working on their major theoretical assignment: designing an enclosure for an assigned animal species. These designs must meet strict requirements, including animal welfare, visibility for visitors, and practical maintenance. Tomorrow, students will finalise their designs and pitch their concepts to the judges. After the hard work we had guided tours in groups and we were also led behind the scenes. Very exciting and interesting!

🧐 Meanwhile, coaches and supervisors made the most of the day by exploring the park, also behind the scenes, and networking. Many exciting plans were made for school visits, exchanges, and future partnerships. Amazing to see such collaboration! 🤝

🎉 Looking forward to tomorrow’s final day! 🎉

🌟 And we’re off! 🎉

The first competition day of the EUROPEA Animal Care Competition is a fact! What a great atmosphere from the very start.

After a morning filled with welcome speeches, an icebreaker Bingo, a tour of the school and practical training facilities, and a delicious Dutch lunch, the official competition kicked off. Participants got to work on both practical assignments and theory challenges.

Excited for what’s ahead — tomorrow the competition continues at Wildlands Zoo! 🦒🐘
