🚀 LAB Motion Systems is exhibiting at SEMICON Europa 2026!

In semiconductor manufacturing, every nanometre counts. This November we’re bringing our precision motion expertise to Munich for SEMICON Europa, co-located with electronica.

Whatever your motion challenge, we have a solution: linear, rotary or multi-axis. Our rotary stages offer world-class nanometre performance on any load, with error motions below 100 nm or even 20 nm, and speeds up to 8,000 RPM. Precision ranges from micrometre down to nanometre level, in system sizes from 100 mm up to 500 mm.

Choose from our product library, or work with our experienced engineering team to kick-start your project with a custom solution.

📍 Messe München, Booth B1132
🗓️ 10 to 13 November 2026

⚙️ Introducing our new rotary stage: the RT060AS
Small, precise motion stages are hard to find. That's exactly the gap the RT060AS is designed to fill.
Designed for X-Ray & CT applications, this vertical air bearing rotary stage delivers continuous rotation with exceptional accuracy in a remarkably compact package.
This rotary stage is ideal to bring the artefact very close to the source.
Why RT060AS?
- High speed: continuous rotation at over 1000 rpm
- Ultra-precise: radial error motion below 0.25 µm, axial error motion below 0.15 µm
- Compact: only 63 x 63 mm footprint and 68 mm in height
- Smooth motion: PMSM motor, no hall sensors required
- High-resolution feedback: 8192 encoder lines per revolution
Key specs:
▪️ Bearing type: air bearing
▪️ Nominal torque: 0.033 Nm @ 0.85 Arms | Peak torque: 0.07 Nm @ 1.8 Arms
▪️ Air supply: 5–6 bar, 4–10 SLPM
▪️ Max axial load: ±5 N | Max radial load: ±2 N
▪️ Total mass (w/o cabling): 0.8 kg
Whatever your high-precision rotation challenge, the RT060AS delivers the accuracy and compactness your application demands.

Every journey starts with the first step and here it begins with a starter pack 🎒

When someone new joins LAB Motion Systems, a small welcome pack is ready for them.

It's a small gesture, but it says what we mean: you're part of the team from day one.

We're a team that likes to learn from each other, take on new challenges and keep moving forward together ☕.

430 ms → 24 ms.

That's the settling time on the same stage, the same move, the same tolerance window — before and after active vibration isolation (AVI).

Here's why that number matters: every time a stage moves, it has to "settle" — reach its target position within a defined tolerance — before the next process step (inspection, exposure, measurement) can start. The faster it settles, the higher your throughput. But push accelerations higher to save cycle time, and you usually excite more vibration, which works against you. That's the trade-off we wanted to break.

So we built a 3 DOF AVI demonstrator on a linear ball bearing X-stage and put it through its paces:

→ Motion profile: 3G, 1 m/s, 80 mm step → Settling window: 100 nm

Result: 🔹 Passive isolation: 430 ms average settling time 🔹 Active isolation: 24 ms average settling time

That's roughly 18x faster — on identical hardware, same move, same tolerance band.

For applications like patterned wafer inspection, where settling time is dead time repeated thousands of times per wafer, that difference compounds fast.

👇What's costing you more throughput right now in your systems: ground vibration, settling time or something else entirely? We are curious to hear how others are tackling this.

The workhorse of synchrotron beamline positioning.

This is a heavy-load, multi-axis sample stage system built for synchrotron beamline applications, where sub-micron performance isn't a headline number - it's the baseline requirement.

Typical specifications for this stage family:

🔹 30 kg max centered load capacity

🔹 XY crosstable repeatability: 250 nm

🔹 Rotational repeatability: ≤0.1 arc sec, angular accuracy: ≤±4 arc sec

🔹 Axial/radial error: ≤±25 nm / ≤±50 nm

🔹 Vertical travel: 550 mm with micrometer-level straightness

🔹 Horizontal travel: 500 mm, ±200 nm repeatability

This isn't a one-off demonstrator. Variations of this stage have been running at synchrotron facilities around the world for years, and it fits into a range of customer control strategies - either through LAB's own EPICS-compatible motion control, or by connecting directly into a customer's existing motion control via a patch panel.

Every beamline has its own constraints, and we're used to working through them. If a project needs a specific modification to this proven platform, we are open to discuss specific modifications.

What's the toughest repeatability or accuracy spec you've had to hit on a project? Curious how others in precision motion tackle it - let us know in the comments.

New home, built with the same precision we put into our systems 🏗️

Proud to share this feature by Business Vlaanderen on our new headquarters in Bekkevoort, Belgium. When our building in Haasrode became too small, we set out to build a home that matches how we work: precise, adaptable and built to last.

Together with Vulsteke Bedrijfsgebouwen and XYZ architecten, we flipped the traditional layout: the production hall faces the street, while our offices sit at the back overlooking green space. This is a much nicer view during breaks. Inside, vibration-free flooring keeps our nanometer-precision production stable, while the office side got a warmer, open feel with a lot of natural light.

From groundwork to finish, the whole project came together in just seven months. It is a real team effort between client, architect and contractor.
