Chin cup therapy is an extra-oral orthopedic appliance used in growing patients with skeletal Class III malocclusion to control excessive mandibular growth.
It applies an upward and backward force to the chin, usually 300-600 grams per side in younger patients and up to 800-1000 grams in older children, redirecting mandibular growth and improving facial profile. Effective results depend on early use during growth and good patient compliance.
