What happens when the water around us becomes too salty to use?

Salinity is becoming a growing threat to water security, agriculture, and communities around the world.

According to FAO, about 1.381 billion hectares (10.7% of global land) are already affected by salinity, with another 1 billion hectares at risk. Around 10% of irrigated and rainfed cropland is affected, and severe salinity can reduce some crop yields by up to 70%. But salinity is not only a soil problem.

Rising sea levels and water scarcity are increasing saltwater intrusion into freshwater sources. In coastal Bangladesh, including Coxโ€™s Bazar, UNICEF reports in 2025 that salinity is already worsening due to sea level rise, drought, and climate-related disasters.

This is the challenge SeaTap by E Lab is working to address.

SeaTap explores accessible, scalable solutions that combine agricultural waste and technology to make salinity- and arsenic-contaminated water safer for communities.

Drive experiment design, troubleshoot issues without close supervision, and deliver a data-backed go/no-go recommendation for Phase 2.

E-Lab Bangladesh LTD is seeking a proactive and driven Research Associate to Own and lead Phase 1 ISE validation for Porokh's next-generation soil sensing capability (pH, EC, nitrate-N), working with greater independence than the intern track. Drive experiment design, troubleshoot issues without close supervision, and deliver a data-backed go/no-go recommendation for Phase 2.

๐Š๐ž๐ฒ ๐‘๐ž๐ฌ๐ฉ๐จ๐ง๐ฌ๐ข๐›๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐ž๐ฌ:
-Lead design and ex*****on of Phase 1 experiments (pH, EC, nitrate-N) and own the testing protocol end-to-end.

-Independently troubleshoot calibration, drift, and repeatability issues; propose and validate fixes.

-Own the sample-preparation SOP and lab documentation standard; enforce discipline across the team.

-Coordinate directly with the team lead on signal integration and electronics interfacing.

-Analyze results against reference lab data and prepare the Phase 1 โ†’ Phase 2 recommendation report for management.

-Contribute to planning Phase 2 scope (probe/electrode design, potassium/ammonium exploration, cost estimate).

๐‘๐ž๐ช๐ฎ๐ข๐ซ๐ž๐ ๐๐ฎ๐š๐ฅ๐ข๐Ÿ๐ข๐œ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง:
-BSc/MSc in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Soil Science, or related field.

-~1 year of relevant hands-on experience in wet chemistry, analytical testing, or sensor/ISE R&D.

-Demonstrated ability to work independently, troubleshoot experiments, and document results rigorously.
