Steam Turbine Restoration & Dynamic Balancing | QNP N2.2-1.8

After remaining out of operation for nearly 3 months, this QNP N2.2-1.8 Steam Turbine experienced significant internal steam oxidation affecting multiple-stage turbine blades and nozzle rings.

Our engineering team at RotoTech Bangladesh Limited successfully carried out a complete restoration and balancing process, including:

✔ Precision mechanical rust cleaning of turbine blades and nozzle rings
✔ Rotor journal polishing for improved surface condition and operational reliability
✔ Dynamic balancing of the turbine rotor for smooth and vibration-free performance
✔ Detailed inspection and corrective maintenance before recommissioning

🎓 Industrial Visit by KUET MSE Department (2K20 Series) at RotoTech Bangladesh Limited

On 17 May 2026, we had the pleasure of welcoming students from the Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (2K20 Series), Department of Materials Science & Engineering (MSE), along with their respected faculty members, for a full-day industrial visit at RotoTech Bangladesh Limited.

Throughout the day, the students explored our workshop and office operations, gaining practical insights into:
🔧 Industrial maintenance & refurbishment
⚙️ Reverse engineering & precision machining
🛠️ Inspection and engineering service workflows
📐 Quality control & technical coordination
🏭 Real-world industrial applications of materials engineering

Our team shared hands-on experiences and discussed how engineering knowledge is applied in solving industrial challenges across power, manufacturing, and heavy engineering sectors.

We truly appreciate the enthusiasm, curiosity, and active participation shown by the students during the visit. It was an excellent opportunity to bridge academic learning with real industrial practices.

We recently refurbished a camshaft with 0.30–0.40 mm corrosion & surface erosion on the lobes, bringing it back to OEM condition.

🧩 What we did:
🔍 Inspect: Identified wear & damage
🔥 Rebuild: Precision welding to restore material
⚙️ Machine: Finished to exact OEM specs
🧪 Test: Crack detection using Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI)

Mr. Kader has completed Diploma in Marine Engineering, BIMT. He brings over 17 years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance within HFO/Diesel power plants. He has worked with leading organizations including Orion Power Rupsha Ltd., Khulna Power Company Ltd., and Wärtsilä Bangladesh Ltd.

His hands-on experience, leadership in mechanical maintenance, and commitment to operational safety make him a valuable addition to our technical team.

We were proud to be part of the Alignment Technology of Rotating Machines training program organized by BPDB(Bangladesh Power Development Board), where RotoTech Bangladesh Limited actively contributed on the 5th day of the course.

Our session focused on “Troubleshooting alignment problems, Identifying common issues and their causes, preventive measures. The session was conducted our Chairman sir Engr. Mahmudul Hasan, CEO, Rototech Bangladesh Ltd. And Assistant Manager, MD Asifur Rahman Prantik.

A big thank you to the organizers and all participants for the engaging discussions and knowledge sharing. It was a great opportunity for us to showcase our expertise and collaborate with industry professionals.
