Understanding Visual Merchandising

Visual Merchandising is often explained in a very complex way, but in reality, it is quite simple.
The concept of merchandising means everything that is present in an outlet — the products, the furniture, and the display materials.

Visual Merchandising is the art of presenting these elements in such a way that they catch the customer’s attention and inspire them to make a purchase.
If the customer feels attracted and decides to buy, that is the success of visual merchandising.

✅ 20 Key Points of Garments PPM (Pre-Production Meeting)

In the Garment Manufacturing process, a Pre-Production Meeting (PPM) is the backbone of smooth ex*****on. It ensures that every team is aligned before bulk production starts.

Here are the 20 essential points to cover in a successful PPM:

1️⃣➡️ Order Details Confirmation – Buyer name, style no., PO, delivery date & other key info.

2️⃣➡️ PP Sample Approval – Verify all processes based on buyer-approved sample.

3️⃣➡️ Measurement & Size Set – Confirm size spec, tolerance, shrinkage allowance.

4️⃣➡️ Fabric Details – GSM, composition, shrinkage, shade band approval.

5️⃣➡️ Trims & Accessories – Button, zipper, thread, label, hangtag, polybag & approval status.

6️⃣➡️ Construction Details – Stitch type, SPI (stitch per inch), seam type confirmation.

7️⃣➡️ Special Processes – Printing, embroidery, washing, applique & approval.

8️⃣➡️ Pattern & Marker – Final pattern, grading & marker efficiency validation.

9️⃣➡️ Production Line Setup – Decide which line will handle production.

🔟➡️ Sewing Operations Breakdown – Operation bulletin & manpower planning.

➡️1️⃣1️⃣ Quality Standards – Inline & end-line inspection system as per buyer requirement.

1️⃣2️⃣➡️ Workmanship Standard – Preventive guidelines for defects (open seam, puckering, etc.).

1️⃣3️⃣➡️ Finishing & Packing – Ironing, folding, packing method, carton dimension.

1️⃣4️⃣➡️ Labeling & Ticketing – Care label, wash instruction, size label placement.

1️⃣5️⃣➡️ Production Planning & Target – Daily production target & efficiency plan.

1️⃣6️⃣➡️ Test Requirements – Color fastness, shrinkage, PH, pull test, etc.

1️⃣7️⃣➡️ Compliance & Safety – Worker safety, needle policy, metal detection process.

1️⃣8️⃣➡️ AQL Standards – Final inspection method & acceptable quality level.

1️⃣9️⃣➡️ Delivery & Shipment Plan – FOB date, booking, shipment mode (sea/air).

2️⃣0️⃣➡️ Problem Discussion & Solution – Identify risks, buyer comments & corrective actions.

🧶Conclusion:
A well-organized PPM meeting minimizes production risks, aligns all departments, and ensures timely, quality delivery. It’s not just a meeting – it’s the foundation of successful bulk production.

Woven or Outerwear garments

For Example :

Fabric width = 58 inch
Fabric consumption = 2.0 yds/pc
Quantity = 200 pcs
এখন width কমে 52 inch হলে কনজাম্পশন বাড়বে।
Excel sheet এ নিম্নের formula apply করবো
= oder qty * consumption * old width / new width
= 200*2*58/52
= 446.1538 yds.

So ,

In that case, fabric supplier

How textiles and garments connect within the global supply chain?

🔗 Connection Between Textile Industry & Garment Industry

1. Backward Linkage
• The garment industry depends on the textile industry for raw materials.
• Example: A jeans manufacturer cannot start production until denim fabric (woven textile) is supplied.
• Without a strong textile base, garment makers rely on imports → longer lead times, higher costs, less competitiveness.

2. Forward Linkage
• The textile industry relies on garment makers (and fashion brands) to convert fabrics into final products that consumers buy.
• Example: A mill producing polyester knits needs demand from sportswear brands to keep running.
• Without garment buyers, textile mills risk overcapacity and inventory pile-ups.

🌍 Global Supply Chain Flow
1. Fiber Production (cotton farming, polyester chips, wool shearing)
2. Textile Industry (spinning → weaving/knitting → dyeing & finishing)
3. Garment Industry (cutting → sewing → finishing → packaging)
4. Brands/Retailers (Zara, H&M, Nike, etc.)
5. Consumers (you & me buying the final product)

📊 Industry View
• Textiles = Upstream industry → provides raw materials.
• Garments = Downstream industry → delivers finished fashion to global markets.
• Together they create a value chain where every disruption (like cotton price hike, yarn shortage, or sewing delay) impacts the final product.

🚀 Forward-Thinking Insight
• Countries like Bangladesh, Vietnam, and Cambodia are garment-focused but rely heavily on imported textiles.
• Countries like China, India, Pakistan have both strong textile and garment industries → giving them a competitive edge.
• Future growth lies in vertical integration (having both textile & garment capacity in one ecosystem), which ensures shorter lead times and higher margins.

👉 So in summary:
• Textile = foundation (fabric, yarn, fiber).
• Garments = final output (clothing).
• Both are interdependent gears in the global apparel machine.
