পৃথীবির প্রথম আবিস্কৃত ব্যান্ড নিয়ে কাজ করতে পেরে আনন্দিত।
আধুনিক এসির জনক হিসেবে যার নামটি প্রথম আসে, তিনি আমেরিকান প্রকৌশলী হ্যাভিল্যান্ড ক্যারিয়ার। ১৯০২ সালে উইলিস হ্যাভিল্যান্ড ক্যারিয়ার প্রথম বৈদ্যুতিক এয়ার কন্ডিশনার আবিষ্কার করেন। সেই এসি মূলত শিল্পক্ষেত্রে ব্যবহারের জন্য প্রস্তুত করা হয়েছিল। একটি ছাপাখানায় কাজ করতেন হ্যাভিল্যান্ড। সেখানকার বাতাসের আর্দ্রতা ও তাপমাত্রার কারণে ঠিকঠাক কাজ করা সম্ভব হচ্ছিল না। উৎপাদন বৃদ্ধির জন্য মূলত এ যন্ত্রের নকশা করা হয়েছিল। বাতাসের আর্দ্রতা ও তাপমাত্রা নিয়ন্ত্রণের মাধ্যমে ছাপা কাগজের আকার ও কালির যথার্থ ব্যবহার ঠিক রাখতে এসি ব্যবহার শুরু হয়েছিল। তিনি এসি তৈরিতে আর্দ্রতা নিয়ন্ত্রণ কৌশল প্রয়োগ করেন। আগের প্রতিষ্ঠিত যান্ত্রিক হিমায়নের ধারণার ওপর ভিত্তি করে ক্যারিয়ারের এসি সিস্টেম ঠান্ডা পানি ভরা কয়েলের মাধ্যমে বাতাস পাঠাত। ঘরের আর্দ্রতা নিয়ন্ত্রণ করতে আর্দ্রতা অপসারণ করার সময় বাতাসকেও শীতল করত এ সিস্টেম। ১৯০৬ সালে তিনি এসির জন্য আমেরিকান সরকারের পেটেন্ট পান।
১৯১৫ সালে হ্যাভিল্যান্ড ও ছয় প্রকৌশলী মিলে বিশ্বের বৃহত্তম এসি প্রস্তুতকারক প্রতিষ্ঠান ‘ক্যারিয়ার ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং করপোরেশন’ প্রতিষ্ঠা করেন। ১৯২৬ সালে ঘরবাড়িতে এসির ব্যবহার শুরু হয়। ১৯২৮ সালে টমাস মিগলি জুনিয়র ফ্রেয়ন আবিষ্কারের মাধ্যমে আবাসিক, শিল্প ও বাণিজ্যিক কাজে মানুষের জন্য নিরাপদ এসি উদ্ভাবন করেন। ১৯৪৬ সাল থেকে বাণিজ্যিকভাবে এসি উৎপাদনের চাহিদা বৃদ্ধি পায়।

The first person whose name comes up as the father of modern AC is the American engineer Haviland Carrier. In 1902, Willis Havilland Carrier invented the first electric air conditioner. That AC was originally designed for industrial use. Haviland worked in a printing press. It was not possible to work properly due to the humidity and temperature of the air there. This machine was originally designed to increase production. By controlling the air humidity and temperature, AC was introduced to keep the size of the printed paper and the correct use of ink. He applied humidity control technique in making AC. Carrier AC systems based on previously established mechanical refrigeration concepts sent air through coils filled with chilled water. The system also cooled the air while removing moisture to control room humidity. In 1906 he received an American government patent for AC.
In 1915, Haviland and six engineers founded the world's largest AC manufacturer 'Carrier Engineering Corporation'. In 1926, AC started to be used in homes. In 1928, Thomas Mighley Jr. invented Freon to make AC safer for people in residential, industrial, and commercial applications. From 1946 the demand for AC production increased commercially
