This month TEN’s vintage calendar image comes from the Queensland Energy Museum. It captures transmission tower conductor stringing operations in 1978 during the expansion of Queensland’s high-voltage network. Crews can be seen working directly on lattice steel transmission structures while installing conductors and insulator assemblies, a complex process requiring precision rigging, tension control and coordination at height.
Projects like these formed the backbone of the state’s long-distance electricity transmission system, enabling reliable bulk power transfer across Queensland’s growing grid network.
