Our rented spin wash called it quits about 2 months ago, and unfortunately the company we were with couldn’t source a replacement unit anywhere in the country.

After a few calls we managed to track down a large unit down south and got a great deal on it too. The new machine can handle loads up to 1000kg, which means we can now run the big diesel heads through it no problems.

For those wondering what we use it for - this thing is a daily workhorse. On the workshop side, we pull intakes off older vehicles before tuning and run them through the spin wash to blast all the carbon buildup out before they go back on. Clean intake, clean tune. As well as anything else that needs cleaning it also gets used constantly on the machine shop side of things.

Stoked to have a new unit ready to go. Big capacity, good deal, sorted. 💪

2022 200 Series LandCruiser - Emissions Compliant Tune + Transmission Tune

This one came in dead standard making a healthy 185hp from the factory. Good base to work with.

We kept this tune nice and safe at 24psi and 19:1 AFR - that’s our ceiling on a stock exhaust 200 Series. The DPF on these gets heat soaked quickly when you start pushing beyond that without the exhaust to support it, so we don’t go there. Emissions compliant, DPF safe, and built to last.

End result - 221hp and derived torque jumping from a stock 560Nm up to 720Nm. That’s a 19.5% gain in power and 28.6% gain in torque from a safe, streetable calibration. Huge difference in driveability especially in the low to mid range where these things spend most of their time.

We also tuned the transmission while we had it, smoothing out the shift mapping, holding 5th and 6th better for a much better driving experience to match the extra torque it’s now putting through it.

No torque graph on this one - had a bit of a Commodore situation on the dyno earlier in the day that had our settings out of whack. Rest assured the claimed peak torque numbers are correct, we don’t lie here 😉.

2009 VE SS Ute - Harrop 2300 FDFI Supercharged Tune

This one came in after a previous tune left it feeling flat.

First thing we did was strap it to the dyno as it sat to see what we were working with. The car had previously been tuned on 5psi, so we don’t know what it made back then, but with that same tune and just a pulley change done it was now sitting on 7psi and making 477hp. A decent number, but we knew there was more in it.

Before we started we dug into the HPTuners repository to pull as much of it back to standard as we could and start fresh. Nothing drastically wrong with the previous calibration to be fair, it just isn’t how we tune them - and the injector data had been entered incorrectly from what Harrop specifies for this kit, so that got corrected too.

With a clean slate to work from we got the retune done and she stepped up to 547hp - a solid 70hp gain.

But we’re not done yet.

If you look at the wiring in the photos, you’ll see the interchiller setup isn’t ideal. The wiring has been sitting on the radiator, wired incorrectly, and while the interchiller reservoir is full, the pump just isn’t shifting coolant fast enough. Intake air temps are running about 15 degrees higher than they should be - we reckon there’s another 20hp sitting on the table once that’s sorted.

Still a great result on the day, but we’ll have it back in over the next few weeks to redo the wiring and likely throw a new pump in. Watch this space.

VDJ79 | Turbo Upgrade + Custom Tune ✅

Another workshop’s bad calibration had this 2022 VDJ79 single cab throwing itself into limp mode constantly, with a suspected blown turbo to boot. Brought it to us on Thursday and we got to work.

First up - turbo replacement. We fitted a TDX upgrade unit with 25% more flow and surge slotting to sort the hardware side properly.

Then onto the tune. Got it on the dyno and pulled 232hp and 658Nm with a solid, reliable calibration - fixing every one of those limp issues in the process. We ran out of dyno time to fully dial in the VNT mapping so finished that up on the road, and honestly if we’d had another session on the rollers we’d have been knocking on 250hp and 700Nm. That’s not a bad place to be knowing there’s still more on the table.

Customer also wanted a hardcut limiter thrown in, done.

Happy customer, no limp, better fuel economy, and a tune built for longevity not just peak numbers. That’s the goal every time.

We just finished setting up a 200 Series LandCruiser with one of our custom tow tunes, and the difference on the road is night and day.

We dialled this one in nicely to a very comfortable, cruisey 24psi max boost. It’s got plenty of clean, predictable grunt now while also staying emission’s compliant, but the real magic on these big rigs comes down to how the gearbox handles it.

Getting the transmission sorted
If you've towed with a 200 before, you already know the factory gearbox loves to hunt for gears and slip the converter, which just builds up unnecessary heat. To fix that, we loaded in our new transmission calibration:
Holds gears properly: It holds onto 5th and 6th gear much better on the highway, meaning less shifting back and forth.
Early converter lockup: It locks the torque converter earlier and keeps it locked when you're pulling up hills.
Keeps it cool: By keeping the converter locked, you're getting better fuel economy and keeping those transmission temps right down where they should be.

Rich tune. Blown engine. Fixed. 💪

NP300 Navara rolled in with a dodgy previous tune — AFRs as low as 12:1. The owner reckons that tune is what killed his last engine, and honestly? We wouldn't argue with him. This time he came to get it done right.

We cleaned it right up:
🔥 16:1 on boost entry, 17:1 under load
🔥 192hp / 441Nm on the Mainline
🔥 Same power, same boost, way less fuel

Had a small map sensor drama first round but the customer came back and we finished the job properly. 3 weeks later — he's already feeling the difference at the servo.
Beautiful Navara on 35s with a front mount FMIC and twin stainless snorkels that are actually plumbed in (not Bluetooth 😂). Would've seen 200hp+ on a flattery dyno — we run a Mainline so you get real numbers.
Cowboy tunes cost engines. Ours don't.
