📣 A quick update from Hangar 17

The Distillery will be closed from Monday 21 to Friday 25 September, so tours and tastings won’t be available during this time.

Our online store will remain open, with online orders fulfilled as usual throughout the week.

We’ll be back open as normal on Saturday 26 September, including for tours and tastings. Yes, even on AFL Grand Final Day! 🏉🥃

🥃 We’re heading to Taste the Tamar!

We’re looking forward to joining producers from across the Tamar Valley for a day of local drinks, food and live music at Taste the Tamar.

Come and find the Launceston Distillery team at Exeter Showgrounds, where we’ll be pouring a selection of our Tasmanian single malt whiskies for you to taste.

🏆 We have a winner!

Congratulations to Steven Naumann, the winner of our Tasmanian Whisky Week competition! Steven has won the exclusive behind the scenes experience at Hangar 17 for himself and Angela.

We loved reading everyone’s ideas for what they’d create if they took over as Head Distiller for a day, but Steven’s suggestion of experimenting with a cider cask caught our attention.

It’s a great idea, and one we thought could make for a very interesting whisky. 🥃🍏

Thank you to everyone who entered and shared their creative cask and flavour ideas. You certainly gave our team plenty to think about!

❄️ The Off Season is almost over!

There’s still time to experience winter a little differently at Hangar 17.

Visit Launceston Distillery and fill your own 100ml bottle of Tasmanian single malt whisky straight from our special Off Season cask. Sample the whisky from the barrel before filling, sealing, registering and labelling your bottle yourself.

You’ll also take home a Tasmanian devil gift pack featuring your choice of whisky marmalade or whisky mustard from our neighbours at Tasmanian Gourmet Sauce Company, with a contribution from each pack sold going to the Save the Tasmanian Devil Appeal.

🥃 Tasmanian Whisky Week may be over, but there’s still a taste of it left.

Created exclusively for Tasmanian Whisky Week 2026, our Rum Cask Special Release brings together our northern Tasmanian single malt with the rich sweetness and tropical influence of Australian rum.

Matured for its full life in a 50-litre American oak Australian rum cask, this limited release offers notes of citrus, vanilla and maple syrup, followed by toffee, golden syrup and baked pear.

With only 120 bottles produced, there’s still time to add a little Tasmanian Whisky Week to your whisky shelf.

🥇 Gold for Winter Solstice 5.

Winter Solstice 5 began as a celebration of Tasmania's longest nights. Now, we're celebrating again.

We're incredibly proud to share that it has been awarded gold in the Peated/Smoky Whisky category at the inaugural Royal Tasmanian Whisky & Spirits Awards.

It was also a fantastic result across our range, with our Peated release, Bourbon Cask and Tawny Cask each receiving silver medals.

To have four whiskies recognised across three categories is a proud moment for our small team and a wonderful recognition of the care, patience and craftsmanship that goes into every bottle we produce at Hangar 17.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Launceston Distillery and shared these releases with us. We're proud to be part of the Tasmanian whisky community, and honoured to see our whiskies recognised alongside so many exceptional local producers.
