Supply chain delays in essential parts of load and haul equipment have led to the Schlam team being asked to develop some creative solutions for customers.

It’s led to the development of expertise in modifying equipment that builds on our experience in production and refurbishments.

In one example, our team was called on to design and build new lips for DA3 dipper buckets to enable an American miner to start utilising new GET earlier than might otherwise be possible. These are complex solutions that leverage both our product knowledge and experience to ensure a safe and effective result.

Another brand-new Barracuda bucket for a Cat 6060 is ready for freight, heading out to one of our clients in the Pilbara.

With delays on several critical components, the build required a completely different approach from our standard procedure.

The team in Waroona stepped up, worked collaboratively, and delivered this bucket ahead of schedule.

Well done to everyone involved. This is what innovative thinking and teamwork can achieve.

When EGM of Product Lifecycle Services, Amit Bareja, talks about our promise to improve load and haul productivity, he takes a very long-term view.

While it starts from designing products customised for sites, it doesn’t end when those assets reach the end of their operating lives and are decommissioned. All the information gained from how products perform throughout their lives informs the design for their replacement.

We’re heading to the 40th Elko Mining Expo this June, joining thousands of mining professionals from across North America at one of the industry’s most respected events.

At Schlam, we know that no two mine sites are the same. Nevada’s hard rock mining operations face unique haulage challenges, from maximising payload and reducing carryback to extending truck life and lowering maintenance costs.

There are lots of ways for a mine to increase payload capacity, but not all of them will also meet financial objectives.

The Schlam team has a lot of experience in working with mines to analyse and test options for increasing payload productivity, decreasing costs and improving haul cycle performance.

One example was a long-life copper mine in Central Asia which achieved up to a 17% increase in payload, a 12% reduction in operating costs, and better haulage with less carry-back by changing its truck beds to lightweight, customised Hercules models.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of experienced mining executive, Phil Sellers, to the role of Chief Commercial Officer with Schlam. Phil’s appointment coincides with the release of an expanded range of products to support comprehensive end-to-end solutions.

The new products include a broader range of buckets to support all models of machinery over 100 tonnes, the introduction of high-quality ground engaging tools and installation kits for Hercules truck beds and Barracuda buckets.
