Boyd Metal Industries is proud to have played a role in the transformation of the Elizabeth Baillie Precinct in East Victoria Park, rolling the distinctive red painted pipe featured throughout the project’s striking playground structures. Delivered in collaboration with Boyd’s client RediSite, specialists in bespoke landscape structures and end-to-end open space solutions, the project showcases the power of innovative design combined with expert fabrication.
Part of the precinct’s $8.1 million redevelopment, the revitalised Elizabeth Baillie Park officially opened to the public on March 14 after more than a decade in the making. At the heart of the redevelopment is the Mildred Creak Playground, named in honour of pioneering child psychiatrist Mildred Creak, whose work helped shape early autism diagnosis criteria.
One of the playground’s standout attractions is the impressive Play Line, featuring a long stretch of interconnected play elements including swings, climbing structures, balance walks, play nets and ninja-style obstacles. Boyd Metal Industries rolled the red painted pipe used throughout these structures, contributing to both the visual impact and structural integrity of the design.
For the project, Boyd’s rolled 250NB Sch20 pipe, processing 14 lengths of 12-metre pipe that were cut and rolled into 35 individual segments of varying radii and lengths. The precision rolling work ensured each section integrated seamlessly into the complex playground design while maintaining the required strength and finish specifications.
The project highlights Boyd’s capability in delivering precision rolled products for unique architectural and community-focused projects.
