Received a pretty cool message over the weekend from a very happy Cal 14 trailer sailer owner Barry Evans :

"Thanks Michael. We set the sails up today. To say I am impressed with your work would be an understatement. Considering that the boat crew is nearly eighty you have made it so that we will not worry in a stiff breeze. Thanks once again for your service and the excellent finished product.
Barry Evans

Sydney 36 A3 design images, looking forward to seeing this one flying soon!

This design evolved from a J99 A3 I worked on a couple of years ago and has proven really successful.

Northshore 38 boom furling mainsail.
Radial cut dacron, a fantastic balance of performance and durability!

Below is a bit of an explanation on radial cut vs crosscut sails.

Crosscut and radial cut dacron will have a similar life span.

Where the radial sail outperforms the cross cut is under load. The radial panels more accurately orientate the fibres in the direction of the load paths. This means a more stable sail shape under load (nicer to use, the boat will handle batter) and a sail that will hold it’s shape much better over the years. As all sails age you will see the shape move backwards towards the trailing edge of the sail. This decreases efficiency of the sail particularly when sailing close angles to the wind. Over time the shape will move aft in the radial sail but at a much slower rate than the cross cut sail.

MEB goes 1 & 2 at the St. Francis Yacht Club Elvstrom Zellerbach Regatta 2026.
Racing was tricky, super tight with Nic Baird & Eric Anderson taking 1st overall with Mike Martin and Adam Lowry taking 2nd just 1 point behind Nic & Eric!
This follows last weekends success in Santa Cruz with Mike and Adam taking out that regatta.
Mike and Adam used the new SB15 spinnaker, in both regattas, which is showing excellent versatility across the wind range. I'll try and get some pics of the SB15 uploaded soon!
