Before a playground reaches site, every component moves through the final stages of finishing, protection and preparation.

In Chapter 3 of our Inside the Making series, we're taking you behind the scenes at Monbulk to look at powder coating, timber finishing, small assemblies and quality control.

From durable powder-coated steel through to carefully prepared timber components, every detail is checked and refined before installation begins.

Managing these processes in-house helps us maintain quality, consistency and attention to detail throughout every project.

Small in scale, big on play value. ๐ŸŒฟ

Nestled amongst the trees in Mount Evelyn, the recently completed Kemp Reserve Playground Upgrade for Yarra Ranges Council delivers a variety of play experiences for local families to enjoy.

Featuring a triple swing with bird's nest seat, monkey bars, sky rail, junior slide and nature-inspired play elements, the playground has been designed to encourage movement, exploration and everyday outdoor play.

The natural colour palette and thoughtfully selected equipment complement the surrounding bushland setting, creating a welcoming community space for children of all ages.

Made here. Built better.

For us, Australian made isn't just a badge on a brochure.

It's designing, manufacturing and assembling playgrounds right here in Victoria. It's local jobs, local skills and a team that takes pride in every project that leaves our factory.

From steel fabrication and timber production to assembly and installation, we're committed to creating playgrounds built to perform in Australian conditions.

Designed. Manufactured. Installed.

Meet Sam ๐Ÿ‘‹

Sam joined Activity Playgrounds in January after completing a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture and has quickly become part of our design team, helping turn ideas and concepts into real-world play spaces.

When he's not working on playground designs, you'll likely find him playing basketball, at the gym, out for a run, on a bike ride, or generally keeping active.

Sam enjoys the challenge of taking a concept and bringing it to life in 3D, helping create playgrounds that are both functional and engaging for the communities that use them.

According to the team, he's hardworking, creative and always up for a challenge. And if you ask Sam what he enjoys most about working at Activity Playgrounds? The people he works with... and the impressive range of aromas coming from the staff kitchen at lunchtime! ๐ŸŒฎ๐Ÿœ๐Ÿ

Welcome to the team, Sam!

What happens after a playground design is approved?

This is where ideas start becoming reality.

In Chapter 2 of our Inside the Making series, we're taking you behind the scenes of our production process, from steel fabrication at Wandin through to timber preparation and project coordination at Monbulk.

Managing production in-house gives us greater control over quality, precision and consistency, helping ensure every project is built to perform.

Thoughtful playground design is about more than just the equipment itself ๐Ÿ‘€

For Myrtle Road Playground in Hampton, delivered for Bayside City Council, Victoria, the brief was to create a contemporary play space for younger-age children that still felt connected to the much-loved train playground that had been part of the reserve for many years.

Located alongside a kindergarten and within an established community setting, the design needed to carefully consider age suitability, play value and how the space would integrate with its surroundings.

The result is a themed play space that combines imaginative, sensory and active play elements within a layout designed to feel welcoming, engaging and connected to place.
