Two Rocks Marine Rescue would like to send the deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the families of the two heroes who lost their lives in the recent boating tragedy in Ballina.
As volunteers we do not prepare ourselves for these situations and we do not prepare our families or friends. Our first priority is to serve our community. When we are called to a rescue, our loved ones expect us to return home. This is a deafening reminder of the reality of the risk every emergency services worker faces when on duty. Being a volunteer does not make that risk any less significant, it just means we donate our time to serve our community. The risk is the same, the reward is the same and sadly the loss is the same when it happens.
To Marine Rescue Ballina…..with hands on our hearts, we salute you. We send you our support and strength in this very difficult time and wish for you to have the courage to continue to be a very valuable and needed community service.
We honor the two great men you have lost and send the whole Ballina community our condolences also.
