Busy couple of weeks on the road for the KNB Crew after securing the concrete bowl maintenance contracts for Boral, Heidelberg, and Pioneer North Qld (PNQ). We travelled across North Qld to Mossman, Cairns, Innisfail, Tully, and Mackay, finishing up with the local fleets in Townsville โ Now de-dagging 122 trucks from Port Douglas to Mackay!
A tough job โ but essential for keeping these fleets safe, efficient, and on the road ๐
What is โde-dagging?โ ๐โ๏ธ
Over time, leftover concrete sticks to the inside of the mixer drum and hardens into large chunks. If they arenโt removed, they build up, add extra weight, reduce mixing capacity, and can damage the truck.
De-dagging is the process of climbing inside the drum and manually breaking out that hardened concrete using jackhammers and specialised tools. Itโs dirty, physically demanding work that requires strict safety procedures, confined space permits, ventilation, and rescue planning.
The de-dagging process is required every six months to ensure the fleets remain safe on the roads and operating at full capacity.
