Congratulations to the Ironwood Urban Horticulture & Landscape Partnership 🌿

On Saturday we had the privilege of presenting the 2026 Australian Institute of Horticulture Greenspace Environmental Award to a partnership doing something genuinely different — turning Adelaide itself into a living classroom.

Bringing together Ironwood Institute, Adelaide City Council and the National Wine Centre, the partnership gives horticulture students hands-on experience in real living landscapes, while contributing to urban greening, biodiversity and more sustainable landscape practices across the city.

Accepting the award were Andrew Bruce (National Wine Centre), Matt Sexton (Adelaide City Council) and Navtej Bal (Ironwood Institute).

Initiatives like this are exactly what our industry needs — connecting students directly with the environments they'll go on to work in, and building the skills to create a greener, more liveable Adelaide.

Despite the late evening streaming in from Canada, Flex MSE technical expert, Joel, joined us live at the AIH Conference to share his insights. His enthusiasm for vegetated retaining and erosion control solutions is truly inspiring! 🌍💚

During his presentation, Joel highlighted innovative project studies that showcase how we can implement Flex MSE right here in Australia. From reducing urban heat islands to enhancing biodiversity and tackling the challenges of denser cities, the potential for positive change is immense! 🌱🌆

Our very own Cody Gooden, Flex MSE Category Manager, then joined in for Q&A, fielding engaging questions from delegates. As Cody shared, he was excited to be in a room filled with experts and bringing the perspectives of the next generation to the conversation on the future of urban greening.

🌿 Exciting discussions at this morning's AIH Conference! We're feeling inspired and hopeful about the future of green infrastructure, thanks to three remarkable speakers who challenged us to rethink our urban landscapes and the value of biodiversity.

As Jason Summers pointed out, our homes are getting larger while our blocks are shrinking—leading to less space for vital tree canopy. Yet, the importance of this canopy has never been clearer. The question we face is: How can we design and maintain our landscapes to prioritise living green assets, recognising their immense value for both people and our planet?

A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Tonia Cochrane OAM, Jason Summers, and Michael Casey for their thought-provoking presentations that have set the stage for transformative ideas. As we break for lunch, let’s carry these insights forward and work together towards a greener, more sustainable future! 🌳💚

🌱✨ A Wonderful Start to the Australian Institute of Horticulture Conference! 🌿

Today, we witnessed the incredible passion and dedication of our horticultural community as insightful speakers shared their knowledge on the essential role we play in conserving endangered and critically endangered plants and animals. The initiatives presented were nothing short of inspiring—from designing natural habitats for zoo animals to restoring native plants to their rightful environments.

We are excited for more thought-provoking discussions today, including a special presentation from our own Cody Gooden and Joel Kennedy on Flex MSE for greener infrastructure. Together, we can pave the way for a more sustainable future!

We have loved connecting this week at the Victorian Landcare Conference as we celebrated 40 years of Landcare!

It was fantastic to listen to many great presentations from leaders in Landcare, as well as showcase our range of sustainable tree guards + a greener and long term solution for erosion control (Flex MSE).

🍃 One of the standouts from this conference was how much interest there is in the industry for sustainable alternatives. Reducing our reliance on the use of plastics for tree-planting and revegetation will help make greening projects event greener.

🌳 Tree Coach put to the test in Wodonga

Last week our Victorian Territory Manager, Pete, was on site at Sumsion Gardens in Wodonga for a hands-on Tree Coach installation trial — bringing crews from three councils together to see the product in action.

The day was organised by Towong Shire Council, with 12 attendees across Towong Shire Council, City of Wodonga and Albury City Council.

The City of Wodonga planting crew ran the installation themselves, setting up Tree Coach with 1200 H stakes — and the verdict was quick and easy. A few things stood out to the team:
No hammering needed to set the stakes / the stakes double as a depth guide for the planting hole / stapling the hessian ties was far easier than expected.

Great to see the product make planting faster and simpler on the ground — and we're thrilled that Towong Shire Council is looking forward to using Tree Coach in another future planting.

We were excited to be at the TLA Landscape Expo in NSW last week, showcasing Flex MSE, Tree Coach, and a selection of our solutions for revegetation and green infrastructure.

It was a valuable opportunity to connect with landscape and environmental professionals, talk through project challenges, and share practical approaches to vegetation establishment, erosion control, and long-term site performance. 🌳
