πŸ“ Day 1 Highlights from Kingaroy!

What an exciting first day at the IPWEA-QNT South-West Queensland Branch Conference! The Proterra Group team has finished a fantastic day filled with insights and networking.

A major highlight was the presentation by David Bell, our Major Projects Manager, and Brian Wood from Survai Systems, who shared how LiDAR technology is transforming road condition assessments. They demonstrated its ability to provide greater accuracy, deeper data insights, and improved outcomes in asset management.

It was great to see such strong engagement among attendees, with lots of discussion about practical applications of this innovative technology.

We’re looking forward to another incredible day of knowledge sharing and showcasing what the Proterra Group team can do!

πŸ’™ A Wonderful Night for the Inglewood Community! πŸ’™

Proterra Group was thrilled to stand behind the ManUp! For Prostate Cancer Inglewood Beers and Bowls Charity Event, and what a phenomenal evening it turned out to be!

Thanks to the incredible generosity of the Inglewood community, local businesses, sponsors, and everyone who joined us, we raised an astounding $17,878. This money will directly support Inglewood Health Services and help raise awareness of prostate cancer in our community.

What truly made the night special was the strong sense of community spirit that shone through. It was heartwarming to see so many individuals and families come together, share laughter, enjoy friendly games of bowls, and rally behind a cause that impacts so many lives in our area.

We are grateful to have played a small role in this meaningful event and extend our heartfelt congratulations to the ManUp! Team, volunteers, and organisers for their dedication and hard work in bringing our community together for such an important cause.

Well done, Inglewood! This is the true essence of community. πŸ’™

At Proterra Waste, building strong working relationships with our clients is at the heart of everything we do.

One of our clients' contractors recently praised the exceptionally low contamination levels within the green waste stockpile managed by the Proterra team. The difference was immediately noticeable, giving contractors greater confidence as they moved through the stockpile and delivered a much higher-quality shred.

Even better, Council are extremely happy with the results achieved.

Through proactive management and attention to detail, the Proterra team reduced contamination costs from $64 per m3 for contaminated green waste down to just $13 per m3 for the Proterra-managed stockpile.

Real operational improvements. Real cost savings. Real results.

This is the Proterra difference.

🌧️ WET WEATHER NOTICE – LONGREACH WASTE FACILITY 🌧️

The Longreach area received approximately 30mm of rain overnight, resulting in wet and potentially slippery conditions at the Longreach Waste Facility.

To assist customers during this period, skip bins for General Waste and Scrap Metal will be located next to the shed in front of the office. This will allow customers to dispose of these materials without needing to access wetter areas of the facility.

Where possible, we encourage residents and businesses to postpone non-essential visits until conditions improve. This will help minimise damage to site surfaces, reduce the risk of vehicles becoming bogged, and improve safety for all site users.

If you do need to visit the facility, please:

* Drive to the conditions
* Follow all site signage and staff directions
* Exercise caution when entering and exiting disposal areas
* Be aware that access to some areas may be restricted if conditions deteriorate further

Our team is monitoring conditions closely and working to maintain safe operations. We appreciate your patience, understanding, and cooperation during this wet weather event.

Why councils lose DRFA funding to better data.

Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements aren't secured by the council that needs the money most. They are secured by the council that documents the damage most adequately.

QRA assessors need comprehensive evidence, objective measurement, spatial accuracy, and submission-ready formats.

Photos taken on a phone, handwritten field notes and GIS data assembled after the event are common. They are also exactly what gets a submission queried.

A Survai-equipped survey, captured at survey speed and processed by RPEQ-certified engineers, produces the evidence base assessors are actually looking for. GPS-tagged imagery every 10 metres. LiDAR-verified rut depth. Roughness data. DRFA workbooks formatted for QRA submission.

The same evidence helps after the event β€” when the works programme is being scoped, costed and delivered.

If your council is heading into the next event without a baseline, that's the problem to solve.

We'll be at the IPWEA-QNT SWQ Branch Conference at Kingaroy Town Hall next week, 16–17 June β€” exhibiting, presenting, and with the Survai-equipped vehicle onsite. Come and have a conversation.

Family Lunch Highlights – Ginger Edition! 🍽️

This month's featured ingredient was ginger, the little flavour powerhouse that adds a warm kick to nearly every dish!

Fun fact: Ginger has been used for thousands of years not only in cooking, but also as a traditional remedy for digestion and nausea. So technically, we were all making very healthy choices at lunch!

The team enjoyed a seriously delicious spread featuring two curries, chicken and lentil, served with rice, naan, Greek yoghurt, ginger kombucha, and even ginger shots for those brave enough to take on the challenge. A huge shoutout to Kat and Erica, who absolutely outdid themselves in the kitchen.

While everyone enjoyed lunch, there was also plenty of fun with a game before we finished things off with the ultimate comfort dessert, a freshly baked pear and ginger crumble topped with dollops of fresh cream. Safe to say there were no leftovers!

Another fantastic family lunch filled with great food, plenty of laughs, and a whole lot of ginger-inspired goodness! 🫚
