BDR Stainless completed a challenging Design & Construct (D&C) project for a potable water reservoir, showcasing our capability to integrate civil, mechanical, and structural disciplines in a highly sensitive environment.
Scope of Works included:
🔹 Construction of three new FRP civil support plinths
🔹 Installation of a free-issued blower unit
🔹 Design, fabrication & installation of secure blower/pump cages
🔹 DN600 aeration pipework from blower to roof vent, with all pipe supports
🔹 Connection to existing underground outlet pipework to supply a spray line with three nozzles
🔹 Roof-mounted walkway for safe maintenance access
Key Challenges:
The reservoir remained live, supplying potable water to residents. This demanded strict controls and innovative methodologies, including cutting into live roof sheeting without compromising water quality.
Inaccurate as-constructed drawings revealed unexpected underground obstructions. These were resolved through rapid decision-making with the client, ensuring milestones stayed on track.
Restricted access and the presence of live assets required detailed pre-planning and skilled trades to safely execute high-risk works.
The proximity to residential areas meant proactive communication and community engagement were critical to minimising impact.
Outcomes: The project was delivered safely, on time, and to design intent — reinforcing BDR’s reputation for handling complex, multi-disciplinary D&C projects. We are proud to have enhanced both the operational performance and safety of this critical water infrastructure asset.
A huge thank you to the team at BDR Stainless for their excellent work in making this project a success.
