The FOGO mandate deadline isn’t moving. Are you ready? ⏳

processors and councils are fast running out of time to establish compliant FOGO processing solutions to meet the 2030 deadline. The pressure is on to find a composting solution that is fast, compliant, odour-controlled, and cost-effective. Through local partner and integrator SKALA Environmental, the Eggersmann GmbH Convaero system is a specialized Covered Aerated Static Pile (CASP) technology that bridges the gap between open windrows and expensive high-end IVC tunnel solutions.

The goal is to achieve high-quality compost with zero community complaints. The Eggersmann Convaero system can deliver exactly that—industrial-scale efficiency with a minimal environmental footprint ♻️👣 To get ready, get in touch with our SKALA Environmental team today and learn more about our range of Eggersmann screening and recycling technologies.

🏗️ Times are Changing: The Shift to Large-Scale Efficiency

We are seeing a consistent trend across Australian windrow-turning operations: a shift toward larger, high-capacity turners that can keep up with increasing production demands and offer process and cost efficiencies.
The Eggersmann GmbH BACKHUS A60, such as this one commissioned last week, has now overtaken previous smaller models to become our most popular unit across the country. With a throughput capability of 5,500m³/hour and 6m wide rotor, it’s the workhorse that modern organics processing requires.

As Eggersmann's Australian partner, we take immense pride in the commissioning and operator training for these units. We don’t just deliver a machine; we ensure it becomes the gold standard for your operation.

The BACKHUS range continues to set the pace for large-scale composting in Australia.

Why this client chose the BACKHUS A60:
✅ Dual Cabin for Training, a pressurized 360-degree Panorama Cabin—the ideal environment for safe and effective operator training. Test us, this is the easiest turner on the market to drive.
✅ Intelligent Rotor Design: Independently height-adjustable and reversible, allowing for precision mixing and aeration tailored to specific windrow conditions.
✅ Advanced Moisture Management: Fully integrated water wagon and irrigation system for optimal moisture control.
✅ Precision Additives: Concentrate injection capability for enhanced compost quality.
✅ Connected Support: Remote telematic support backed by our local technical and aftersales team.

Nice 📸 Gippsland Water
Great to see the Eggersmann GmbH BACKHUS A60 in action and SKALA Environmental is proud to support the expansion via the turner upgrade.🦾💙

Big things are happening at Gippsland Regional Organics this International Compost Awareness Week.

The team has welcomed a brand‑new windrow turner.

What’s that? It’s a huge machine that turns the long rows of compost, adding oxygen, moisture and speeding up the process.

With the expanded site and new equipment, GRO can now produce up to 70,000 tonnes of nutrient‑rich compost each year, up from 40,000 tonnes.

The big machinery keeping our compost — and our circular economy — turning.
