The boys at Meltrac Machinery have been flat out finishing the PD on an absolute beast of a loader that's about to head out the door — this New Holland W170D is off to help with some silage work soon, and it's a serious piece of machinery.
Under the bonnet is a 195hp FPT 6-cylinder engine with multiple work modes, paired with a 5-speed PowerShift transmission featuring torque converter lock-up and kick-down for quick, effortless pushing up of the clamp. With an operating weight around 15-16 tonne and a tipping load pushing 12+ tonne, it's got the stability and traction needed for loading heavy, wet silage all day, while the Z-bar linkage delivers strong breakout force and excellent bucket visibility. Available with standard or heavy-duty axles and locking diffs, it's built to handle the constant load-and-carry cycle that silage yards demand, and the new cab keeps the operator comfortable through long days.
Whether it's pushing up the clamp, loading trucks, or shifting feed around the yard, this loader is built to handle the punishing, repetitive work that comes with silage season without missing a beat — a genuine asset for any large-scale farm or contractor after reliability and performance.
Stay tuned — we'll have some onsite pics of this thing nice and dirty and earning its keep very soon.
