PART-TIME OFFICE ASSISTANT – TAREN POINT

Onboard Engineering is an expanding Marine Engineering company based in Taren Point. We are looking for a reliable and organised Part-Time Office Assistant to join our team.

Hours: Monday, Wednesday & Thursday – school hours

The role includes:
*Answering phone calls, redirecting calls and taking messages
*General office administration, filing and archiving
*Following company processes to set up jobs in our system
*Entering purchase orders/invoices
*Booking out parts and maintaining accurate records
*Assisting the administration team with day-to-day tasks
*Other ad hoc duties as required

About You
We are looking for someone who:
*Has good general computer skills, including basic Word and Excel
*Has excellent attention to detail
*Has strong customer service and communication skills
*Is professional and well presented
*Works well as part of a team
*Is organised, adaptable and able to work on their own initiative

Previous office administration experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
This is a great opportunity for someone looking for a part-time role during school hours within a busy and growing local business.

Why using an Authorised Service Dealer matters.
 
This Volvo Penta D6 powered vessel contacted Onboard Engineering with reports of low performance and high engine load.
 
We conducted a comprehensive sea trial with Vodia connected and recorded the data at various engine RPM, this data led us to engine load and we suspected the propellers to be the issue. The vessel was lifted and inspected, the hull was clean and the propellers visually appeared in good condition.
 
However based on the sea trial data the decision was made to remove the propellers for further inspection, they were sent to our good friends at Austral Propellers where they were scanned and found to be out of manufacturers specification. After being corrected the props were refitted with new prop speed and the vessel was returned to the water for a second sea trial, this time with the owner onboard.
 
The difference was noted immediately, acceleration had improved and top speed increased. This was confirmed with Volvo Penta Vodia connected and the data reflecting the change in vessel performance.
 
This is why having the right diagnostic equipment and knowing how to interpret the data it provides is so important.
 
Onboard Engineering have been a certified Volvo Penta Dealer for over 10 years, giving our technicians access to the specialist tools, technical information and experience required to accurately diagnose issues like this.

“Life Jacket, Radio and Seakeeper…..Mandatory Equipment “
 
Meet Sterlo , the Man , The legend, someone who loves boating and has a keen eye for detail and quality when he sees it.
 
When Sterlo set up his new Veitch 27 he decided only the best would be fitted to his new weapon of choice. He chose Seakeeper Ride for the underway pitch and roll stabilisation at speed and a Seakeeper 1 for at rest and low speed stabilisation.
 
A keen spear fisherman and now the “ Boatie” who now remains with the boat while the rest of the team spear fish wanted to make sure he was in comfort and chose the best on the Market Seakeeper products.
 
The vessel was recently brought into Onboard Engineering. Taren Point workshop where we complete scheduled maintenance and updated the software to allow the Seakeeper 1 and Seakeeper Ride integration further improving the unbelievable and unrivalled active stability.

A huge congratulations to Niamh Byrne on reaching an incredible 10 years of service with Onboard Engineering Pty Ltd.
Ten years of dedication, hard work, loyalty, and keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes is no small achievement. We’d be completely lost without her.
She’s the only one with the patience to deal with Andrew… and somehow still manages to do it with a smile. And, it has to be said, she’s definitely much nicer than Sam.
Thank you, Niamh, for everything you do for the team, the business, and our customers. Here’s to the next 10 years.

It was an absolute pleasure having Grace from Heathcote High School join us at Onboard Engineering for her work experience. It was refreshing to see a young woman step into the workshop environment, and her dedication and willingness to get involved was a true testament to her strong work ethic.
