❌ MYTH: You only need to aerate your paddocks when the soil is badly compacted.

✅ FACT: You don't have to wait until your pasture starts struggling to see the benefits of aeration!

🌧️🚜 WET PADDOCK? SOMETIMES WAITING IS THE SMARTEST MOVE!

After a good soaking, it can be tempting to get straight back into the paddock. But heading out too early with heavy machinery can do more harm than good! 🌱

Wet soil is more vulnerable to compaction, which can affect drainage, root growth and long-term pasture health.

🔎 Before heading out, check for these warning signs:

💧 Smearing soil – Does the surface become smooth and shiny under pressure?

🚜 Sinking tyres – Are your tyres leaving deep ruts?

🌱 Sticky soil – Does the soil form a shiny ribbon when squeezed?

⏳ Sometimes patience pays off! Giving your paddocks time to dry can help protect soil structure and prevent unnecessary damage.

🚜⚠️ SAFETY STARTS BEFORE THE TRACTOR MOVES!

Long grass can hide more than you think! 🌾

Hidden rocks, wire, branches and scrap metal can cause serious damage to your machinery and put people at risk.

Before you start mowing or slashing, take a few minutes to check:

✅ Walk the paddock – Inspect unfamiliar areas for hidden obstacles.

✅ Check your machinery – Make sure all guards and shields are securely fitted.

✅ Clear the area – Keep people and animals well away from operating machinery.

✅ Remove hazards – Look out for rocks, wire, branches and other debris.

✅ Take your time – A few minutes of preparation can prevent costly downtime and accidents.

Before the first run of the day, a quick pre-start check can help catch the little things before they turn into downtime in the paddock.

Take five minutes to look over:
🔩 Guards — secure and in place
🛠️ Fasteners — check for anything loose or missing
💧 Oil & hydraulics — look for signs of leaks
🛞 Tyres & wheels — check condition and pressure
👀 Unusual movement or wear if something doesn’t look or sound right, investigate it before getting to work

A quick walk-around might not feel like much, but spotting a loose bolt or leak at the shed beats finding it halfway through the job.
