Following on from our April 7 post showing Lotus TC valve seat removal, installation of 4 new exhaust guides, 4 new exhaust seats and 1 new inlet seat. Nice and easy with the BBQ and dry ice working in unison (the lump hammer is merely insurance, not the default procedure with ambient temps commonly applied elsewhere...). Always an interesting and fun job and the kids get to play with the dry ice afterwards. Just sublime... Sorry (for those that get the joke...)

Recently arrived 711M block and steel stroker crank will be the 4th engine build for this customer. Some mandrels spun up yesterday to use for rod swing clearance to camshaft checks. Previously line-bored elsewhere. MB tunnels checked and bang on, so someone did a nice job of that. This one will be 1905 cc

Something a little different this week. Some basic tooling manufactured to allow disassembly/de-staking of MK 2 Cortina ignition switch with no key. Once the barrel was removed, key number stamping visible and new key ordered on e-bay from very helpful seller www.elocksmiths.com Key fit perfectly and then switch cleaned, lubed and re-assembled. Now back in car and working nicely

Rockers freshly tipped, rocker shaft end plugs removed, shaft rifle brushed and OD polished, rocker arm bores flex-honed...

Rockers freshly tipped, rocker shaft end plugs removed, shaft rifle brushed and OD polished, rocker arm bores flex-honed, new plugs fitted to shaft and the whole lot cleaned, reassembled and fitted to current mild 1500 pre-x-flow build. Wade 240 camshaft, 10.5:1, 28/36 DCD Weber (with GT500 choke sizes) on Mk1 GT Cortina inlet manifold and custom set of pipes being made as engine will be fitted to early Classic Capri
