If you’ve got one of these machines sitting in the shed needing repairs, don’t throw it away and buy a new one — get it repaired.
This customer dropped off a few pieces of equipment and asked if I could save this little Shindaiwa. Without hesitation, I told them to leave it with me. After a full service and repairs, it’s back running like it should and ready to be used and abused every day.
After working on countless brushcutters over the years, I still rate these among the best ever built. They’re lightweight, powerful, incredibly reliable, and have a simple design that makes servicing and repairs straightforward. Parts are also readily available, which means they can keep going for many more years.
Don’t let anyone convince you that replacing quality equipment with a cheaper modern alternative is the only option. In the past I’ve even sourced good second-hand piston and cylinder assemblies, completed the repairs, carried out a full service, and had customers back up and running for a fraction of the cost of a new machine.
The same applies to most outdoor power equipment. If it’s well built, parts are available, and it’s worth repairing, fix it properly. You’ll save money, avoid the headaches of lower-quality replacements, and get many more years out of equipment that’s proven itself.
