The Cossill & Webley team had a fantastic time at the first Unwind Event last Friday, proudly supporting this brilliant initiative as a sponsor. Big shoutout to the powerhouse ladies - Emma Fletcher, Phoebe Telchadder, and Jasmine Lewis for creating such an inspiring space for women in property and land development. 🙌

Perth’s housing pipeline continues to face significant pressure as the demand for new homes outpaces the delivery of enabling infrastructure. While the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage (DPLH) has clearly identified where housing supply should be delivered, the servicing required to support that growth—particularly water, wastewater and power networks—remains heavily constrained. The result is a widening gap between zoned and serviced land, reducing the industry’s ability to respond quickly to market demand and population growth.

At the UDIA’s recent Infrastructure Summit, Cossill & Webley Director Nathan Butson highlighted the critical importance of aligning land use planning with infrastructure planning across Perth’s key Growth Corridor Areas. Nathan noted that the pace of infrastructure planning and inter-agency coordination is not keeping up with the State’s strategic planning intent. Without timely and targeted infrastructure planning, even the best-planned growth areas risk delays that hinder the release of much-needed housing supply.

What a fantastic night at the recent WiLD: Women in Land Development event, proudly hosted in Villawood Properties’s new office in Southbank!

At Cossill & Webley’s recent Technical Discussion Session, our own Matt Hansen along with the assistance of Daniel Nguyen (CW’s Data Scientist) presented to the CW staff the latest information in relation to civil works costs across the Perth Metro area. The presentation included a history of the civil works costs over recent years and the current costs for Power, Sewer and Water Infrastructure, as well as Major Intersections and Corridor Cost per Lot.

With over 60 active projects and more than 100 progress payment claims processed by the CW Perth office every month, this represents a considerable amount of data for which we collect and analyse to ensure all our Engineers have a solid understanding of the cost fluctuations on our current and likely future Development projects. Naturally, access to this data also assists with the accuracy of our Opinion of Probable Cost Estimates.
