Landfill construction is a crucial aspect of waste management systems, aimed at providing a safe and efficient means of disposing of solid waste. The process involves carefully selecting a suitable site, taking into consideration factors such as proximity to populated areas, geology, and environmental impact. Once the site is chosen, a series of steps are followed to construct the landfill. This includes preparing the area by clearing vegetation, leveling the ground, and installing a liner system to prevent contamination of soil and groundwater. Landfill construction also involves implementing systems for collecting and treating leachate, a liquid that forms as waste decomposes, as well as capturing and managing landfill gas, which can be converted into energy.
ABH Consulting Group assisted in the project and construction management of Bulla Landfill, Cell 7 Construction. As project management consultant, our qualified engineers and site supervisors provided a range of services including:
• Complete construction risk assessment.
• Develop construction methodologies for steep batter cuts, access ramps, and Benched Edge Access
• Work with GITA and EPA auditors to ensure all hold points are met.
• Development of minor scopes of work and Site Instructions.
• Carry out slope stability assessments.
• Propose remediation options following minor landslip failure.
• Managing dewatering by developing a pumps system to prevent water build-up
ABH Consulting Group believe that landfill construction plays a vital role in ensuring the proper containment and management of waste, promoting environmental sustainability and public health.
